Jeep® Vacationeer Concept Impresses at Detroit 4Fest
Blending Retro Design with Modern Off-Road Capability...
This past weekend, the 2024 Jeep® Vacationeer Concept made a striking appearance at the Detroit 4Fest held at Holly Oaks ORV Park in Holly, Michigan. The event, which brought together off-road enthusiasts from across the region, offered a variety of activities, including off-road training, test drives, and vendor displays. Jeep® took center stage as an official sponsor, inviting participants to earn a coveted Badge of Honor by tackling a challenging off-road course.
The Jeep Vacationeer Concept stood out at the event, blending rugged off-road capabilities with a refined, nostalgic design. Inspired by the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models of the past, the Vacationeer pays homage to the brand’s heritage with woodgrain bodyside graphics, evoking a sense of adventure from the late 1960s through the early 1990s. Its bold exterior, painted in a fresh “Spearminted” color, was a fan favorite, while larger wheel openings and custom bodyside flares enhanced its aggressive stance.
The off-road prowess of the Vacationeer is undeniable, thanks to its 35-inch BFGoodrich mud-terrain tires wrapped around 18-inch x 9-inch bead grip Method Racing wheels, which provide a natural 1.5-inch lift. Underneath, front and rear skid plates offer extra protection, while a front-mounted Warn winch ensures the SUV can handle even the toughest trails. The roof, coated in a durable white Rhino liner, boasts three powerful 11-inch TYRI LED lights, providing superior visibility for nighttime excursions.
A standout feature of the Jeep Vacationeer Concept is the custom-built, carbon-fiber RedTail Overland Skyloft affixed to its roof. This climate-controlled sleeping area comfortably accommodates two people, offering panoramic views through multiple windows. The Skyloft is accessible from the vehicle’s interior via a weatherproof pass-through door, adding convenience and comfort for overnight camping trips.
Inside, Jeep collaborated with designer Kiel James Patrick, a longtime Wagoneer owner, to create a luxurious interior that merges rugged utility with premium craftsmanship. The front seats are upholstered in Tupelo leather, with custom fabric inserts featuring classic Jeep vehicles in a New England-inspired design—a nod to Patrick’s love for Americana and his personal connection to the Jeep Wagoneer.
Under the hood, the Vacationeer is powered by Jeep’s formidable twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter HURRICANE H/O I-6 engine, delivering an impressive 510 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque, ensuring it’s ready for any off-road challenge.
With its blend of modern capability, nostalgic design, and luxurious touches, the 2024 Jeep Vacationeer Concept captured the attention of many at Detroit 4Fest, with some hoping for a more hardcore off-roading Wagoneer in the future.
