Jeep® Unveils Its Off-Road-Oriented Avenger 4xe For Europe

Jeep® has long been synonymous with ruggedness and adventure, and their latest model, the Jeep Avenger 4xe, is no exception. Unveiled to a group of European journalists, the Avenger 4xe builds on the success of the original Avenger (JJ), offering a modern twist with its hybrid powertrain and all-wheel-drive (AWD) capabilities.

Eric Laforge, Head of Jeep Brand in Enlarged Europe, stated, “Avenger is one of Jeep’s biggest success stories, with over 90,000 orders from final customers, of which almost 30% are fully electric. In the wake of this success, Avenger 4xe will be the new benchmark in the B-SUV segment, offering exclusive design, top performance, and the full expression of Jeep’s legacy in AWD.”

Design –

The Jeep Avenger 4xe stands out with a design that blends rugged functionality with sleek aesthetics. Jeep has ensured this new model looks good and performs exceptionally well in various environments. Here are some key highlights of the Avenger 4xe’s exterior design:

Durable Materials: The front and rear bumpers are crafted from mold-in-color material with an anti-scratch finish, ensuring durability even in harsh conditions.
Improved Lighting: Redesigned fog lights are positioned higher and further outward, enhancing nighttime visibility and safety.
Roof Rails: Standard roof rails increase the vehicle’s load capacity, making them perfect for carrying outdoor equipment such as kayaks or camping gear.
Rear Tow-Hook: Integrated into the design for additional functionality and towing capabilities.
Functional Features: The front bumper exposes the wheel for better maneuverability on rocky terrain and includes a higher, more prominent cladding to protect the number plate.
Hood Decal: The new optional hood decal is made of matte material to reduce sun glare while driving, adding function and style.
Green 4xe Highlights: The Avenger 4xe, a departure from the traditional blue 4xe highlights, is distinguished from the rest of the Avenger lineup by its electric green color.

The interior of the Jeep Avenger 4xe is designed with comfort, durability, and practicality in mind. It seamlessly combines modern technology with Jeep’s trademark rugged charm. Here’s what you can expect inside the Avenger 4xe:

Washable Seats: The seats are made from unconventional materials that are completely washable and twice as resistant as conventional materials. They are perfect for adventurers who frequently encounter dirt and mud.
Enhanced Comfort: The cabin is designed to offer maximum comfort, with features that ensure a pleasant driving experience even on rough roads.
Durable Interior: The seats are protected by an easy-to-clean solution that guards against stains and mud, ensuring the interior remains pristine.

Performance –

At the heart of the Jeep Avenger 4xe is an innovative hybrid powertrain that seamlessly merges the benefits of electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) technologies.

Hybrid System: The Avenger 4xe features a 48-volt hybrid system with a robust 1.2-liter turbocharged engine. This engine produces 136 horsepower (101 kW), providing a strong foundation for city driving and off-road adventures.
Electric Motors: Dual 21 kW (28 horsepower) electric motors at the front and rear complement the turbo engine. These motors enhance the vehicle’s power and efficiency, allowing full-electric driving at low speeds and boosting performance when needed.
Transmission: An automatic 6-speed dual-clutch transmission ensures smooth gear changes and optimal performance. This setup allows the vehicle to switch seamlessly between electric and hybrid modes.
Performance Specs: The Avenger 4xe delivers a maximum power output of 136 hp (101 kW) and can reach speeds of up to 194 km/h (120 mph). It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 9.5 seconds, making it quick and responsive.

All-Wheel Drive Capability –

One of the standout features of the Avenger 4xe is its all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, which enhances its performance across various terrains.

Traction: The smart AWD system ensures that all-wheel drive is available whenever required. At low speeds (between -30 and +30 km/h or -18 and +18 mph), traction on all four wheels is permanent with a 50:50 split. This setup is ideal for off-road conditions and provides maximum grip.
Variable Distribution: At medium speeds (30 to 90 km/h or 18 to 56 mph), the rear axle drive activates only when needed. At high speeds (above 90 km/h or 56 mph), the front drive becomes permanent to minimize fuel consumption.
Torque Distribution: The system can distribute torque based on demand, ensuring optimal performance and fuel efficiency.
Ground Clearance: The Avenger 4xe boasts a ground clearance of 210 mm (8.3 inches), 10 mm (0.4 inches) higher than the front-wheel-drive model. This allows for better maneuverability over obstacles.
Water Fording: It can ford water up to 400 mm (15.7 inches) deep, making it suitable for traversing streams and flooded paths.
Off-Road Angles: Improved off-road angles include a 22° approach, 21° breakover, and 35° departure, allowing for better handling on steep and uneven terrains.

E-Boost Function –

A highlight of the Avenger 4xe’s performance capabilities is the E-Boost function available in Sport Mode.

Enhanced Power: This function maximizes the hybrid system’s power and torque output, delivering an extra boost for more spirited driving. It is very similar to the Dodge Hornet R/T’s Powershot function.
Dynamic Driving: The E-Boost ensures that the Avenger 4xe remains responsive and agile, providing an exhilarating driving experience whether on-road or off-road.

Selec-Terrain® Modes –

Standard M+S Tires: The Avenger 4xe comes standard with Mud and Snow (M+S) tires, providing reliable traction in various weather conditions. These tires are optimized for everyday driving, ensuring a smooth and stable ride on paved roads.
Optional All-Terrain Tires: For those who plan to venture off the beaten path, the Avenger 4xe offers optional All-Terrain tires with the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) symbol. These tires provide enhanced grip and traction on challenging terrain, allowing you to confidently tackle gravel, mud, sand, and other off-road surfaces.

While official pricing hasn’t been revealed, the Avenger 4xe is expected to be competitively priced within its segment, ensuring value without compromise. Orders are slated to open by Q4 of 2024, and availability will initially be in select markets before expanding.
