Jeep® Teases Bold New Design for Next-Gen 2026 Compass

Jeep Reveals A Sleek, Muscular Look For The 2026 Compass...

Jeep® has just revealed an exciting sneak peek of the next-generation Compass (J4U), hinting at a bold new design direction for the popular compact SUV. In a recently released teaser image, Jeep showcased a more muscular side profile, with dynamic lines and a confident stance, signaling a major overhaul for the vehicle.

Built on the Advanced STLA Medium Platform –

A key highlight of the upcoming Jeep Compass J4U is its transition to the STLA Medium platform, representing a significant upgrade over the outgoing Small Wide 4×4 platform. The new architecture promises to improve technology integration, increase energy efficiency, and provide better versatility across powertrain options. This platform, already in use in models like the Peugeot 5008 and Opel Grandland, will allow Jeep to offer traditional, hybrid, and electric powertrains for the new Compass, ensuring it caters to a wide range of customer preferences.

The new STLA Medium platform also means the Compass J4U will be slightly larger than its predecessor, providing additional versatility and even the possibility of a third-row seating option. While this third row may not accommodate large adults, it will be ideal for families with small children or teenagers, enhancing the Compass’ family-friendly appeal.

Powertrain Options: Electric, Hybrid, and ICE –

The Jeep Compass J4U is expected to have a variety of powertrain options, including all-electric, mild-hybrid, and internal combustion engines (ICE). For electric vehicle enthusiasts, the Compass J4U will feature a dual e-motor setup with power outputs ranging from 160 kW (215 horsepower) to 285 kW (382 horsepower). It will boast a 400-volt electrical architecture and offer an impressive range of up to 435 miles (700 km) on a single charge.

The new Compass will likely include a front-wheel drive (FWD) mild-hybrid powertrain under its e-HYBRID lineup in response to stricter European emissions standards. This will allow for electric-only driving at low speeds in urban environments, enhancing efficiency and reducing emissions.

For the North American market, expect the new Compass to come equipped with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with direct injection, which is also compatible with hybrid-electric applications. Stellantis confirmed this engine during its investment announcement for the Dundee Engine Plant in Michigan.

In terms of design, the Jeep Compass J4U will feature bolder, squared-off lines that exude confidence and strength. The cabin will be packed with modern technology, including integrated screens, premium materials, and advanced service features, providing a more refined driving experience.

The Jeep Compass J4U will be produced at multiple locations worldwide. For the European market, it will be manufactured at the Melfi Assembly Plant in Italy, while production for the North American market will take place at the Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada. Additionally, Jeep is expected to establish another production site in Brazil to cater to the growing South American market.

I am interested in how the assembly handles the tripower. Is possible that Ice only end up being FWD only?
