Jeep® Starts Opening Wrangler Unlimited 4xe Ordering In Europe:
Entire Lineup Is Now Available...
Jeep® has opened up ordering for its entire 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe lineup for Italy, with other European markets following in the upcoming days. Those who live in Austria, Belgium, France, German, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland were already able to order a European-exclusive 80th Anniversary “First Edition” model, which proved to be a huge success for the brand in the EMEA region.
For the EMEA region, the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe lineup consists of the exclusive 80th Anniversary “First Edition”, luxurious Sahara 4xe, and the off-road-oriented Rubicon 4xe. All three models will utilize the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain using the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder, the direct injection motor uses a twin-scroll, low-inertia turbocharger for exceptional responsiveness and fuel efficiency. The engine allows the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe to have additional range once the initial charge of about 25 miles range is depleted.
The powertrain also uses a high-voltage liquid-cooled motor-generator mounted at the front of the engine. The motor-generator system replaces the conventional alternator and spins the engine for nearly seamless fuel-saving, start-stop operation, and generates electricity for the 400-volt, 17-kWh, 96-cell lithium-ion battery pack located under the rear seat. A second high-voltage motor-generator is mounted to the front of the transmission case and is key for the pure electric operation of the Wrangler.
The electrified powertrain features a total output of 375 horsepower (280 kW), 470 lb.-ft. (637 N•m) of torque, and a 49 MPGe rating. The system can propel the Wrangler to a 0 to 60 mph time in just 6-seconds.
Off-road is where the new 4xe technology takes the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe to the next level by offering four-wheel-drive (4×4) in full-electric mode. This provides Wrangler Unlimited 4xe models with benchmark all-terrain performance thanks to its instant torque-on-demand without emissions.
Wrangler Unlimited 4xe maintains its ‘Trail Rated’ technical contents, which, depending on the trim, include two advanced, active, on-demand full-time 4×4 systems – Command-Trac and Rock Trac, next-generation Dana axles, Tru-Lock electric front- and rear-axle lockers, Trac-Lok limited-slip differential, and electronic front sway-bar disconnect.
Jeep will officially unveil the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe for the EMEA region on May 21st, during a live webcast event.
