Jeep® Shows Off New Commercial To Help Kick-Off Wrangler 4xe:
New Campaign Gets Back On Track...
After this year’s Super Bowl ad blunder, the Jeep® brand is back on track with its latest commercial. The iconic American brand kicked off its new campaign for the launch of its new electrified plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe lineup.
The commercial appeared during Sunday’s 78th Golden Globes award show. Using the theme from Stanley Kubrick’s classic “2001: A Space Odyssey”, the commercial utilizes lots of animal friends performing their own rendition.
Using the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder, the direct injection motor uses a twin-scroll, low-inertia turbocharger for exceptional responsiveness and fuel efficiency. The engine allows the Wrangler Unlimited 4xe to have additional range once the initial charge of about 25 miles range is depleted.
The powertrain also uses a high-voltage liquid-cooled motor-generator mounted at the front of the engine. The system replaces the conventional alternator and spins the engine for nearly seamless fuel-saving, start-stop operation, and generates electricity for the 400-volt, 17-kWh, 96-cell lithium-ion battery pack located under the rear seat. A second high-voltage motor-generator is mounted to the front of the transmission case and is key for the pure electric operation of the Wrangler.
The electrified powertrain features a total output of 375 horsepower (280 kW), 470 lb.-ft. (637 N•m) of torque, and an estimated 50 MPGe rating. The system can propel the Wrangler to a 0 to 60 mph time in just 6-seconds.
Watch for the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4xe to be quietly rolling into dealer showrooms this month. If you have questions about order details or availability, you can contact your local Jeep dealer for details.
