Jeep® enthusiasts love the open-air experience that comes with removing the doors on vehicles like the Wrangler and Gladiator. But at higher speeds, that freedom often comes with intense wind buffeting, making long drives less comfortable. Stellantis has now patented a solution—an adjustable air deflector designed to manage airflow and improve cabin comfort.
How It Works –

The new air deflector system is mounted to the vehicle’s frame where the doors would normally attach. When installed, it redirects airflow to reduce turbulence inside the cabin, preventing strong gusts from blasting occupants. The system is adjustable, allowing drivers to fine-tune the airflow depending on speed and conditions.
The design includes a pivoting air deflector body that rotates between open and closed positions. In the closed position, airflow is directed along the side of the vehicle, minimizing drag. In the open position, the deflector pushes air further back into the cabin, reducing direct wind exposure for the driver and passengers.
Built for Off-Roading –

Jeep engineers made sure this system doesn’t compromise the rugged capabilities of the Wrangler and Gladiator. The deflectors are built with durable materials and can withstand the rigors of off-road adventures. Plus, they’re designed to be easily removable, just like Jeep doors.
Why It Matters –

This patent signals Stellantis’ continued investment in improving the open-air experience for Jeep owners. Whether tackling off-road trails or cruising the highway, this air deflector could make top-down and door-off driving more comfortable than ever. While Jeep hasn’t officially announced when this feature will hit production, it’s a promising innovation that could soon become a must-have accessory for Wrangler and Gladiator fans.
