The Jeep® brand has kicked off the 2022 model year by continuing its dominance in the Low Emissions Vehicle (LEV) segment in the country of Italy. While that might sound strange to many Americans and Canadians, the popular Jeep Renegade 4xe and Compass 4xe plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) offerings controlled a 11.2% of all LEV models in Italy for 2021. But as we have completed the first month of the 2022 calendar year, there has been some shocking new results for the Jeep electrified duo.
In January, the brand reached a new milestone with a marketshare of 19% for all LEVs in Italy. For the Stellantis Melfi Assembly Plant, the milestone is a huge win. Melfi is the only Stellantis plant globally that builds the PHEV versions of the Renegade and Compass 4xe models, letting Italian know that their Jeep is “Made-In-Italy”. Along with the American-built Wrangler Unlimited 4xe PHEV, the brand has reached an overall marketshare of 4.2%.
Thanks to their PHEV technology, the Jeep 4xe family are some of the most fun and best-performing SUVs on the market and continue the brand’s legacy of “going anywhere and doing anything”. At the same time, all three models are ideal vehicles for daily urban communiting thanks to their PHEV system that allow their drivers to travel with zero CO2 emission and an urban all-electric range of approximately 50 kilometers (31 miles) in full-electric mode. This allows the Jeep 4xe lineup to meet the growing emissions regulations throughout Europe, allows their occupants to travel in zero emission city centers, and helps the vehicles balance between driving pleasure and greater attention to the environment.
But it doesn’t stop there. Parallel to the success of the 4xe models, the Jeep brand strategy continues towards the development of increasingly sustainable mobility with the launch of the new e-Hybrid versions of the Jeep Compass and Renegade. The new mild-hybrid (mHEV) will join the PHEV 4xe models, offering European Jeep customers a further opportunity to approach the electrified range and takes another step in the electrification process, confirming its commitment to a future-oriented towards sustainable mobility and strengthening of the “Zero Emissions, 100% Freedom” vision.
