Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is issuing a recall for certain vehicle models due to a potential safety concern. The affected models include the 2022-2023 Jeep® Grand Cherokee (WL74), 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L (WL75), and 2022-2024 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer (WS). This recall is being carried out because the Central Vision Park Assist Module (CVPAM) software may cause the rearview image to not display properly when the vehicle is put into reverse. As a result, these vehicles do not meet the requirements set forth by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111, which pertains to rear visibility.
The issue revolves around a CVPAM containing software that can intermittently block the camera signal from being displayed on the media screen under specific conditions. This may cause the rearview image not to appear when the driver attempts to use it while backing up. If this issue is ignored, there is a heightened risk of potential harm to individuals outside the vehicle if the driver backs up without confirming that it’s safe to do so.
