Jeep® Introduces The Gladiator To The Chinese Market, With Overland Advanced Edition!
Only 500 Units Will Be Produced...
The 2022 Jeep® Gladiator, was engineered to be the most off-road capable Jeep pickup truck ever. Gladiator offers rugged utility, authentic Jeep design, open-air freedom, clever functionality, and versatility. Now, China will get to experience the Gladiator with the launch of the Overland Advanced Edition specifically for the Chinese market.
Based on the Gladiator Overland trim, the Chinese model is well-appointed with features like an 8.4-inch Uconnect 4C information touchscreen with Navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Blind-Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Path Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Remote Keyless Entry, 18-inch Granite Crystal aluminum wheels, Leather-Trimmed Seats and Interior details, and Forward Collision Warning-Plus with Active Braking.
The Gladiator Overland Advanced Edition comes with some other standard equipment that are optional on the North American model, like…
- Freedom Top 3-piece modular black hardtop
- Body Track Slide System
- LED headlights/LED daytime running lights/LED front fog lights
- LED combination tail lights
- Ashtrays and Cigarette Lighters
But what really sets the Gladiator Advanced Edition apart from other models, is the addition of an “Advance Roof Carriage” or roof rack and what is called the “Advanced Edition Exterior Kit”. The Exterior Kit includes a Gladiator Willys-themed graphics layout, black front fender vents, and a blacked-out Jeep grille.
Under the hood is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with Engine Stop/Start (ESS) technology. The Pentastar delivers 285 horsepower (209 kW) and 260 lb.-ft. (347 Nm) of torque and is mated to a ZF-designed, Chrysler-built 850RE 8-speed automatic transmission. The Chinese-spec Gladiator Advanced Edition is fitted with the Selec-Trac® 4×4 system, which is Jeep’s full-time four-wheel-drive system with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio.
The Gladiator Overland Advanced Edition features a 40.8° approach angle, 25° departure angle, and an 18.4° break-over angle, which allows the “Trail Rated” Gladiator Overland to tackle almost everything thrown at it.
There are 9 exterior colors for the Overland Advanced Edition. Those colors have different names than their North American counterparts but are in fact the same colors.
- Alcohol Black (Black)
- White (Bright White)
- Galaxy Gray (Sting-Gray)
- Jungle Green (Sarge Green)
- Metallic Silver (Silver Zynith)
- Moroccan Blue Metallic (Hydro Blue)
- Meteorite Metallic (Granite Crystal)
- Equatorial Red Metallic (Firecracker Red)
Only 500 units of the Gladiator Overland Advanced Edition will be produced for China. The truck will have a retail price of ¥ 599,000 yuan (or about $93,600 USD). Jeep has yet to announce if other Gladiator models will follow, but we think if the Gladiator does well enough, there just might be.
