Jeep® Introduces More Options For It’s Iconic Wrangler Lineup In Chicago!

Xtreme Recon & Sunrider Flip Top...

Along with the North American introduction of the updated 2022 Jeep® Compass (MP), the American adventure brand also showcased some new goodies for its most iconic model, the Wrangler (JL). The additions for the Wrangler include the new Xtreme Recon Package for Rubicon and Rubicon 392 models (something we originally broke the news about, earlier this year) as well as a new Sunrider Flip Top for Wrangler and Gladiator hardtop models.

“As an icon built around 80 years of unmatched 4×4 capability, the Wrangler has always pushed the limit of what a Jeep can do off-road, and the new Xtreme Recon Package with 35-inch tires straight from the factory pushes that limit even further,” said Jim Morrison, Vice President, Jeep Brand North America. “While the Xtreme Recon Package sets the benchmark for 4×4 capability, the easy-to-use Sunrider Flip Top for Hardtop fortifies Wrangler’s open-air spirit.”

The new Xtreme Recon Package off-road package is aimed squarely at the all-new 2021 Ford Bronco Sasquatch package, which is currently arriving at Ford dealers.

Exclusively for the four-door Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon and Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392, the Xtreme Recon Package adds 35-inch LT315/70R17C BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires, 17-inch x 8-inch Beadlock capable wheels, 4.56:1 axle ratio, a 1.5-inch lift, and specifically tuned shocks.

The package includes the following equipment…

  • 17-Inch x 8-Inch Beadlock Capable Wheels (WFC)
  • LT315/70R17C 133/110S Tires (TVC)
  • Dana® M210 Wide HD Tube Front Axle (DJV)
  • 110 MPH (177 km/h) Max Speed Tire Calibration (JJ3)
  • Wheel Flare Extensions (NLA)
  • Mopar® Tire Relocation Kit (XFP)
  • Performance 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Disc Brakes (BR4)
  • Mopar® Jack Spacer (CXK)
  • 35-Inch Tire Suspension (SDG)
  • Mopar® Hinge-Gate Reinforcement (XDB)
  • CVWR: 6,100 lb. or 2,766 kg (Z1M)
  • 4.56 Rear Axle Ratio (DMU)

A new 4.88:1 axle ratio will be available on the Wrangler Rubicon. When paired with the 6-speed manual transmission, this optional axle ratio delivers a best-in-class 100:1 crawl ratio for increased wheel torque and control when navigating off-road obstacles. The 4.88:1 axle ratio will be available for ordering later in 2021.

Available on all Wrangler and Gladiator models, the new Sunrider Flip Top for Hardtop offers a front-row soft top that quickly and easily flips back for an enhanced open-air driving experience. Priced at a U.S. MSRP of $895 (Canadian MSRP of $1,125), the Sunrider Flip Top for Hardtop is constructed from ultra-premium black twill fabric common on many high-end luxury convertibles, making it capable of protecting against inclement weather. The new ready-to-install top comes with mounting rails and hardware included and easily installs in place of the hardtop Freedom panels.

Since the event was not Livestreamed, thanks to the Sons Of Speed YouTube channel, we have coverage of the event from Chicago posted above.
