In April, the compact Jeep® Compass 4xe and its smaller sibling the Jeep Renegade 4xe were the best-selling plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) in Italy. The Compass 4xe sold 817 units taking first place, while the Renegade 4xe sold 576 units claiming second. While it may not sound like huge numbers, due to the ongoing pandemic, Italy is just now letting up on some of it’s restrictions for travel in certain regions starting this week.
The plug-in duo has proven to be a success for the Jeep brand in the Italian marketplace, reaching the top of the electrified vehicle charts for the country only 7 months after being launched. Between January 1st and April 30th, the American brand sold 2,723 Compass 4xe units and 2,309 Renegade 4xe units to the Italian market. This means the brand took a 12.13% market share in the electrified vehicle category with both Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and PHEVs making up the mix.
The success should continue as the handsome updated Jeep Compass 4xe models have started to arrive in showrooms across Europe. The new Compass has evolved improving the quality of the finishes, onboard technology, and introducing important innovations that take it to an even higher level in terms of design, safety, technology, and functionality.
Jeep looks to continue its growth in the electrified Italian market, with the introduction of the new Wrangler Unlimited 4xe which arrives this month. The Wrangler Unlimited 4xe is the first plug-in hybrid of the Jeep icon and offers a Wrangler with the greatest capability ever marketed in the European market. The Wrangler 4xe is the most efficient, sustainable, and technically advanced Wrangler ever and represents a further step in the electrification strategy of the brand’s lineup. This includes at least one electric or electrified version for each model in the coming years.
As the first Jeep vehicles to feature the new “4xe” logo, the Compass and Renegade represent the brand’s path towards sustainable mobility and offer “zero emissions” when driving in electric mode, together with safety on any terrain guaranteed by the Jeep electronic all-wheel-drive (eAWD) system that intervenes when necessary. The new 4xe models identify the modern take on the 4×4 with more capability and performance, guaranteeing the optimal balance between efficiency, fun, and attention to the environment.
