The next-generation Jeep® Compass (J4U) has been spotted in full camouflage while charging in public, confirming that the highly anticipated SUV will include an all-electric (BEV) variant when it launches in Europe next month. This sighting provides the first real-world glimpse of the new model, which is built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform.
Jeep Compass (J4U) Spotted in Europe –

Spy shots captured by Walter Vayr (@GabetzSpyUnit) show a fully camouflaged Compass with a closed-off front grille, a clear indicator of its electric powertrain. The vehicle was also actively plugged into a charging station, reinforcing its BEV credentials. This marks a crucial moment for Jeep as it transitions toward electrification while still offering hybrid and internal combustion engine (ICE) variants in select markets.
New Design and Platform Enhancements –
The new Compass adopts a more modern and rugged appearance with squared-off headlights and a bolder, more aggressive stance. Thanks to the STLA Medium platform, the SUV is expected to grow slightly in size, providing additional interior space for passengers and cargo. The lineup will include both single-motor and dual-motor BEV configurations, with power outputs ranging from 213 horsepower to 350 horsepower.
For traditionalists, Jeep will still offer an ICE-powered Compass with a turbocharged 1.2-liter I3 mild-hybrid engine producing 136 horsepower. Additionally, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant will pair a 1.6-liter I4 gasoline engine with a 125 horsepower electric motor, delivering a combined 195 horsepower.
European Launch in April, Global Rollout to Follow –

Stellantis has confirmed that the new Compass will debut in Europe in April, followed by a mid-year launch in South America and a late-year reveal for North America. European models will be exclusively electrified, with the BEV 4xe version offering the only all-wheel-drive (AWD) option at launch. Production for the North American version is set to begin in Q1 2026.
Jeep’s Strategy in North America –
Jeep has reportedly delayed the North American release of the BEV variant due to concerns over EV adoption rates. Instead, sources suggest that the ICE-powered model may take priority when the SUV finally reaches U.S. and Canadian shores.
With the first full model change in nearly a decade, the new Compass will play a critical role in Jeep’s global strategy. More details are expected to emerge as its official European debut approaches.
