The all-new 2022 Jeep® Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer (WS) have been making headlines since being launched late last year. The return of the Wagoneer nameplate marks the return of an American icon. Both new models have already taken several awards, and Jeep is just getting started with the new Wagoneer twins. There is a new long-wheelbase (LWB) on the way, as well as a new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model both due for a 2023 model year release. But Jeep is ready to offer another new trim to the lineup and it might surprise everyone.
When Jeep opened orders for the all-new Wagoneer in March of last year, the automaker only released pre-configured options for customers to choose from. One of those trim levels that were not included at the time was the entry-level Wagoneer Series I. The Series I was also left off of order lists after full ordering opened as well. Well, that is about to change.
Jeep has put the Wagoneer Series I on its Wagoneer Build & Price configurator for the U.S. marketplace.
For the first time, potential customers of the Wagoneer who are looking for a more affordable option of Jeep’s largest SUV can now configure the best Wagoneer Series I to fit their lifestyle. The Wagoneer Series I for the U.S. is available in both rear-wheel-drive (4×2) and four-wheel-drive (4×4).
Wagoneer is powered by the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 combining the muscle of 392 horsepower and 404 lb.-ft. of torque in a smooth, broad powerband, enhanced with fuel-saving technologies that include variable camshaft timing and cylinder deactivation. Wagoneer is the first vehicle with the next-generation eTorque hybrid system, which features enhancements to several fuel-saving features.
Wagoneer models feature premium LED headlamps, fog lamps, taillights and signature daytime running lights, accent badging, and a standard sidestep. Front tow hooks are incorporated into Wagoneer’s front end when equipped with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, which allows the Series I to tow up to 10,000 lbs.
Compared to its Wagoneer Series II sibling, there is some equipment that is just not available on Series I. That includes things like the popular Quadra-Lift™ Air Suspension, 2nd Row Captain’s Chairs, Power Folding 3rd Row Seat, Chrome Tow Hooks, Front-Axle Skid-Plates, Fuel-Tank Skid-Plate Shield, Transfer-Case Skid-Plate Shield, Nappa Leather-Trimmed Seats, Drowsy Driver Detection, Intersection Collision Assist System, Traffic Sign Recognition, Head-Up Display (HUD), and the off-road-oriented Advanced All-Terrain Package. So if you can do without those options the Wagoneer Series I package is for you.
But the Wagoneer Series I isn’t about what you can’t have, it’s about what you get.
The Wagoneer Series I comes standard with a number of luxury features like Capri Leather-Trimmed Seats, Both Driver and Passenger front seats come with power 4-way lumbar adjust, heat, and ventilated functions, the 2nd Row features a 40/20/40 power tip/slide and recline bench seat with available heating functions, 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hot Spot, 2nd Row Dual CHG-Only USB Ports, 9-Speaker Alpine Audio System, Uconnect® 5 Nav with 10.1-Inch Display, 3 Zone Automatic Temperature Control, 10.25-Inch TFT Color Display Cluster, and choice of Global Black or Sea Salt/Black interior colors.
