The next Mecum auction is set to feature one of the wildest Dodge Demon builds ever—a 1972 Dodge Demon transformed into a modern-day powerhouse. At the heart of this beast is a 7.0-liter (426 cubic-inch) HEMI® HELLCAT V8, built by legendary engine builder Ray Barton. Enhanced with a custom-ground Comp cam, Thitek ported heads, and a Metco pulley system, this powerplant delivers brutal performance. A Southern Hotrod War Viking Max 8-speed automatic transmission and a ProTorque converter with a 3600 RPM stall ensure that all this power hits the pavement effectively.

The chassis has been completely upgraded with an AlterKtion coilover system, RideTech adjustable coil-overs, and a Lynx rear suspension, making this Demon handle far better than any stock 1972 model. Triumph forged 3-piece wheels wrapped in high-performance rubber give it an aggressive stance, while Mancini Racing headers and a custom tune ensure this HEMI breathes appropriately.

Inside, the build blends classic muscle with modern tech, featuring four low-back TMI seats, a Pioneer radio, a Hurst shifter, and a digital gauge cluster. The twin-scooped hood, rear spoiler, and wheel arch moldings add to its menacing look, while black-finished alloy wheels complete the package.

Interestingly, the original VIN (LL29C2B250949) decodes to a 1972 Dodge Demon that originally left the Hamtramck, Michigan, plant with a modest 3.7-liter (225 cubic-inch) Slant-6 engine. This transformation from an entry-level classic to a modern HEMI monster makes this Demon even more special.
