HELLCAT-Powered 1970 Dodge Challenger Up For Grabs On BaT

HELLCAT Heart with Classic E-Body Soul

If you’re into classic muscle with a modern twist, this 1970 Dodge Challenger up for grabs on BringATrailer.com might be your dream ride. What started as a painted rolling project is now a full-blown HELLCAT-swapped beast, thanks to a nut-and-bolt build that wrapped up earlier this year. And yes—it’s powered by a real-deal supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® HELLCAT V8, just like the one found in modern-day SRT machines.

The engine, originally sourced from a 2018 Dodge Charger SRT HELLCAT, didn’t go in stock. It was torn down and rebuilt in 2024 with some serious go-fast goodies: a Modern Muscle Xtreme cam, Metco Motorsports 2.85-inch pulley, Injector Dynamics 1050-XDS injectors, and TTi ceramic-coated headers. Power flows through an 8-speed 8HP90 automatic transmission borrowed from a 2020 HELLCAT Redeye, feeding a rebuilt 8¾-inch rear end with 3.55 gears.

Underneath, this restomod doesn’t mess around. A full QA1 coilover suspension setup, four-link rear, and Wilwood disc brakes (6-piston front, 4-piston rear) bring modern handling and stopping power to the classic E-Body platform. Weld-in frame connectors help keep the body from twisting under hard launches.

Visually, the car keeps it classic with a Bright Blue Metallic (EB5) paint job, white R/T stripes, dual-scoop hood, chrome bumpers, and LED lighting all around. Forgeline 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact tires give it the aggressive stance it deserves.

Inside, the black vinyl interior has been refreshed with new upholstery, carpeting, and trim. Modern touches include Vintage Air A/C, Dakota Digital RTX gauges, and a Sony head unit with Bluetooth. The dash proudly wears an SRT badge, and the digital odometer shows under 400 miles since the build was completed.

The car does have some battle scars from its past—mainly on the passenger side rear wheel well and frame rail from an old accident—but nothing that takes away from its presence or performance. The wiper motor is missing, so the blades won’t move, but that’s minor stuff for a car of this caliber.

Registered in New York and ready to roll, this one-of-a-kind HELLCAT-powered 1970 Challenger is up for auction until Thursday, July 3 at 4:47 p.m. EDT. Whether you’re cruising, collecting, or laying down rubber, this Mopar monster is built to impress—and haul.
