This specific Charger Daytona recently gained attention at the Mecum Monterey 2024 auction, where it stood out as a rare barn find. The 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, a symbol of muscle car history, was stored for decades on a family farm by its original owner. This car, presented with Historic Vehicle Association First Place honors, was a true example of the “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” ethos that characterized the muscle car era.

Originally purchased by a young man who was soon deployed to Vietnam, the Charger Daytona was carefully preserved during his absence. Upon his return, the car faced a mechanical issue, which led to it being stored once again. After 35 years in storage, it re-emerged into the automotive scene, capturing the attention of car enthusiasts worldwide.

Specifications and Features –

The Charger Daytona is powered by a 7.2-liter (440 cubic-inch) MAGNUM V8 engine, equipped with a 4-barrel carburetor. It features a dual exhaust system and a 727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission, all contributing to its classic Mopar performance. As part of the original Charger R/T package, this Daytona came with performance suspension, enhanced cooling components, and premium trim.

The exterior of the car is finished in the iconic HEMI® Orange (EV2) color, complemented by black accents, including a prominent rear wing. The interior is equally impressive, featuring reupholstered bucket seats with the original materials included, a C16 console with a shift handle, and a Tic-Toc-Tach. The car also retains its AM radio and functional hood pins.

Additional highlights include the distinctive nose cone and wing, front fender scoops, and a special rear window. The Charger Daytona rides on Magnum 500 wheels with whitewall tires, adding to its classic appearance.

Provenance and Documentation –
