Just as the Jeep® brand is getting ready to start production of its all-new Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer (WS) models, there continues to be a bold push for diehard fans over the original Wagoneer (SJ). With the new WS model’s polarizing styling and huge price tag being a turn-off for most long-time Wagoneer fans, restored versions of the original are continue to go for huge amounts themselves.
We are starting to see some restored prime examples of the original SJ models, hitting the market as the pandemic continues to slow down. One such example has appeared on the popular auction site BringATrailer.com. This handsome 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is painted in beautiful Spinnaker Blue Metallic Paint and features the Grand Wagoneer’s signature faux wood paneling.
Powered by the AMC 5.9-liter (360 cubic-inch) V8 which produced 144 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque when it rolled off the assembly line, this Grand Wagoneer is mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case. With only 114k on the odometer, this truck has seen several homes over the years including Arizona, New York, and Maryland. While the current seller resides in North Carolina, there is a clean title from Maryland for the truck, despite a Carfax history saying the vehicle was involved in an accident in November 2015.
