All-New Peugeot E-5008 Crossover Hints At 2026 Jeep® Compass

Peugeot recently pulled the covers off of its all-new E-5008 crossover, an important part to the French brand’s new electric portfolio. Moreover, it provides a tantalizing preview of what’s to come with the next-generation 2026 Jeep® Compass, which will share its foundation with the E-5008 on the STLA Medium architecture.

Performance and Efficiency –

At the heart of the E-5008’s prowess lies its electric powertrain, offering an unrivaled range of up to 410 miles (660 km) on a single charge. The E-5008 boasts various powertrain options, including a 320 horsepower dual e-motor eAWD setup, ensuring dynamic performance across most terrains.

Powered by a 400-volt lithium-ion high-voltage battery, this SUV promises efficient energy utilization and rapid charging capabilities. With a Mode 4 plug accepting power up to 160 kW, drivers can recharge from 20% to 80% in just 30 minutes, providing unparalleled convenience and peace of mind on the road.

Spacious and Versatile Interior – 

Using a similar formula to the Jeep Compass-based Commander in South America, the E-5008 can accommodate up to seven passengers. With a wheelbase of 2.90 meters (approximately 114 inches), this crossover offers generous legroom for all occupants, ensuring a pleasurable journey for long distances. A new innovative Easy Access system facilitates effortless entry to the third row.

With a range of seating configurations and a trunk volume of up to 1,815 liters (approximately 64 cubic feet), the E-5008 adapts effortlessly to accommodate passengers and cargo, making it the perfect size crossover for most families.

Technology and Connectivity – 

The E-5008 boasts a host of cutting-edge technology features, including the Panoramic i-Cockpit® and a range of connected services. The 21-inch floating screen puts essential information at the driver’s fingertips, while the PEUGEOT i-Connect® system provides seamless integration with smartphones and navigation systems. Additionally, the E-5008 introduces ChatGPT, enabling natural language interaction between occupants and the vehicle, further enhancing the driving experience.

Design and Manufacturing – 

With a focus on sustainability, the E-5008 incorporates over 500 kg (1,102 lbs) of green materials throughout its construction, including recycled plastics and eco-friendly metals. Designed and manufactured in France, the E-5008 represents Peugeot’s commitment to reducing environmental impact and supporting local economies.

A Glimpse at the Future Jeep® Compass – 

The Peugeot E-5008’s seven-seat arrangement and STLA Medium architecture provide insight into the upcoming 2026 Jeep Compass. The announcement of a $1.32 billion CDN investment in the Brampton Assembly Plant signifies Jeep’s commitment to producing cutting-edge vehicles on the STLA Medium platform. This investment will enable the plant to retool and update its facilities, ensuring the seamless production of the next-generation Compass and positioning it as a leader in the utility market.

Rumors surrounding the next-generation Compass, have the compact SUV having both an internal combustion engine (ICE) and battery-electric (BEV) powertrains.
