ELECTRIFIED 4X4: Jeep® Introduces Avenger 4xe Concept Vehicle:

Jeep Smallest SUV Get Electrified 4x4...

Jeep® has been known as America’s “4×4 Adventure” brand. So it came as a surprise to many that Jeep would be launching its first-ever battery-electric vehicle (BEV), the 2023 Jeep Avenger (JJ) as a front-wheel drive-only vehicle.

Designed squarely for the European market, the small B-SUV offers respectable range, fast charging capability, style, and tech. Slotting below the Renegade in the brand’s lineup, the Avenger will prove to be an important part of the brand’s growth going forward in Europe and other markets like Japan and South Korea.

But what about those looking for four-wheel-drive (4×4) capability?

If you joined us for the LIVE unveiling this morning, Jeep provided an extra thrill and surprise for its global audience with the revealing of the Jeep Avenger 4xe Concept.

“The Avenger has been designed as a Jeep vehicle from the outset, and the all-electric 4×2 model already offers some of the best-in-class capabilities that identify the Jeep brand,” stated Christian Meunier, Jeep CEO. “But we couldn’t help but wonder, what would happen if we injected the Jeep brand’s four-wheel drive electrified capabilities into a compact package while retaining the brand’s unique design language, capability, and personality?”

While Jeep did not release specific details on the Avenger 4xe Concept, they did show some interesting details that could make it into a future production model.

The Avenger 4xe Concept features the 4xe signature “Surf Blue” tow hooks, wider fenders, wider track, and exclusive wheel design wrapped with aggressive off-road tires. The 4xe Concept also has enhanced capability thanks to an improved approach angle of 21°, break-over angle of 20°, and a departure angle of 34°. On top of that, ground clearance was also approved to 200 mm (or 7.8 inches).

To help the Avenger 4xe navigate off-road, there is added protection with thicker cladding and even built-in LED off-road lights to help with visibility at night.

The vehicle displays a new lightweight roof cargo system concept that, with a special belt system, compresses the luggage on the roof and has scratch-proof protection along its entire length. The whole package is completed by an anti-reflective hood sticker and anti-scratch grille treatment for additional peace of mind when driving off-road.

The 4xe Concept represents the ultimate expression of Jeep’s legendary capability, which has been enhanced by electrification, a combination that means customers can benefit from even more off-road capability, more fun, and more freedom while driving in almost total silence.

There is no timeline or announcement given about if or when the 4xe Concept will make it to production. However, judging by the quietness surrounding the concept, we think Jeep engineers are hard at work trying to get this vehicle to market.

Looks Nice utility, together with the rumor about next Renegade will be BEV only and the Wagoneer S, Jeep will have nice footprint for European market.

With the EU regulatory realities and the difficulty running BEV and ICE down the same production line... it is very possible the EU sourced vehicles Renegade being one of them will only be BEV.

Still not sure outside of France (who has embraced modern Nuclear) where the energy is going to come from to power all these BEVs but that is what has been decided.
