Everything You Need To Know About The 2026 Jeep® Compass (MP)

Jeep's Entry-Level SUV In The U.S. Rolls On For Another Year

For 2026, the Jeep® Compass (MP) continues to be the entry point into the Jeep family, combining everyday practicality with the brand’s unmistakable off-road DNA. Built for buyers who want real 4×4 capability in a compact footprint, the Compass lineup adds more comfort, technology, and style for the new model year — while keeping its reputation as one of the most capable vehicles in its segment.

Trim Levels and Pricing –

The 2026 Compass lineup includes five distinct trims, each targeting a different kind of driver. The base Latitude model starts at $30,990 (including destination) and delivers the core Jeep experience with standard 4×4 capability. The Latitude Altitude comes next at $32,985, adding a bolder blacked-out appearance. Stepping up, the Limited trim at $34,885 offers a more upscale interior with added creature comforts, while the Limited Altitude ($36,880) blends premium refinement with that blacked-out design theme. Finally, the top-dog Trailhawk—the most capable small SUV in its class—comes in at $35,390.

Jeep adds two new exterior colors for 2026 — Joose, a vibrant limited-run hue, and Fathom Blue, offering a deep, premium tone. The Trailhawk trim sees meaningful upgrades based on customer feedback, now including remote start, heated front seats and steering wheel, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and a windshield wiper de-icer for added convenience in cold-weather climates. These touches make the Trailhawk just as comfortable on a daily commute as it is rugged on the trail.

Powertrain and Performance –

Under the hood, every Compass continues with the turbocharged 2.0-liter GME-T4 I4 engine, delivering 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque—both best-in-class among standard engines. It’s mated to a smooth-shifting 8-speed 8F30 automatic transmission, and engine stop-start (ESS) technology helps improve fuel efficiency. The setup gives the Compass strong midrange punch, quick acceleration, and enough muscle for light towing, up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped.

Off-Road Capability –

True to its Jeep heritage, all Compass models come standard with the Jeep® Active Drive 4×4 system, while the Trailhawk gets the Jeep Active Drive Low system, which includes a class-leading 20:1 crawl ratio for more control on technical terrain. The Selec-Terrain™ system offers four modes—Auto, Snow, and Sand/Mud on all models, with Rock mode exclusive to Trailhawk. Add in a one-inch factory lift, underbody skid plates, off-road tires, and Jeep’s signature red tow hooks, and the Trailhawk is ready to conquer just about anything. It even boasts a 30-degree approach, 24-degree breakover, and 34-degree departure angle, plus the ability to ford up to 19 inches of water.

Design and Technology –

The Compass carries over its handsome, modern exterior styling, which blends premium looks with rugged Jeep cues. LED lighting is now standard across the board, with premium LED projector headlamps and taillamps available on upper trims. The High Altitude package delivers an even more refined look with body-color fascias, Neutral Grey accents, 19-inch Granite Crystal wheels, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof.

Inside, the Compass features Jeep’s latest Uconnect 5 infotainment system, which operates five times faster than the previous generation. The setup includes a standard 10.1-inch high-definition touchscreen on most trims, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™. A full-color 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster—one of the largest in its class—is available to give drivers a customizable digital cockpit experience.

Color Options for 2026 –

Joose is a limited-run color designed to stand out with its energetic, high-impact finish, giving the Compass a vibrant edge and making it perfect for those who want their SUV to turn heads both in the city and on the trail. Meanwhile, Fathom Blue adds a deeper, more elegant tone to the lineup, giving the Compass a premium look that complements its updated trim strategy.

These new hues join returning favorites like Diamond Black, Bright White, and Silver Zynith, ensuring every buyer can find a finish that matches their personal style. Whether you prefer bold and expressive or clean and classic, Jeep’s expanded color palette for 2026 keeps the Compass looking sharp as it continues its role as the brand’s entry-level SUV.

Safety and Driver Assistance –

Thoughts –

As we await the arrival of the next-generation Compass (J4U), the current Compass (MP) continues to soldier on. For 2026, Jeep is keeping it fresh with a pair of new exterior colors and an updated trim lineup that aligns with the brand’s latest naming strategy. While the MP is beginning to show its age, it remains the gateway into the Jeep lineup in the U.S., offering a solid mix of value, capability, and everyday practicality.
