Dynatrac Introduces Their New CODEX HELLCAT Gladiator Build:

Building The Ultimate Overlanding Gladiator Pickup...

When it comes to axles in the off-road, there is no better company to build bulletproof parts for rock crawlers, high-speed desert runners, especially when it comes to the Jeep world than Dynatrac. Now the Dynatrac team is starting their latest project with the introduction of the 2020 Jeep Gladiator (JT) with the “CODEX” project.

Right after the launch of the 2018 Jeep Wrangler (JL), the Dynatrac team got their hands on an Unlimited Sport 4×4 model and got to work to build an iconic overlanding vehicle that was extremely capable as a rock crawler. Named the CODE1, the vehicle used 42-inch tall Maxxis tires and ditched the rear doors of the Unlimited model and made the vehicle similar to the Egyptian military Jeep J8. The vehicle was the brainchild of former Wrangler JL Product Planning Manager, Tony Carvallo who now works Dynatrac and Motor Trend Channel’s Dirt Every Day, host Fred Williams.

With the CODE1 getting a lot of attention and the new Gladiator being available, Carvallo has gone to work not only building a successor to the CODE1 but the ultimate overlanding Gladiator. Enter CODEX. Starting with the basis of a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland, Carvallo is not only building the ultimate overlanding Gladiator but the first two-door HELLCAT-powered Gladiator on the planet.

While we can’t get into the specifics, we had a chance to catch up with the team at America’s Most Wanted 4×4 in Holly, Michigan. Let’s just say we were very impressed with the build thus far. The team only had a few days to get the truck dismantled, gut the powertrain, install the supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI HELLCAT V8 and transmission, alter the frame length, and then resemble it unfinished to be able to drive from Metro Detroit to California to finish the project in the upcoming weeks.

The Dynatrac team is documenting the entire build and cross-country journey on their YouTube channel. Once the vehicle has been completed we will release the footage of our time with the talented team behind the project. This last to be the most exciting build of a modified Gladiator to date and we can’t wait to see the final project.
