AUCTION: 4,100-Mile 2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Copperhead Edition:

Only 300 Units Were Produced Of This Copperhead Orange Roadster...

The third generation (GEN III) Dodge Viper SRT-10 Roadster is regarded as one of the brasher of the five generations of iconic American supercar in its 25 years of production. With only a 6-speed manual transmission, no traction or stability control, and 500 horsepower on tap, the GEN III Viper SRT-10 Roadster was a true driver’s car.

But one thing the GEN III Viper was known for, was limited edition models.

One of the more sought-after limited edition models is the 2005 Dodge Viper SRT-10 Copperhead Edition. Inspired by the popular 1997 Dodge Copperhead Concept, the 300-unit run of snake-bitten roadsters feature a striking Copperhead Orange (PVR) exterior paint color that set itself apart from the rest of the Viper models. Highlighted with a set of stunning staggered 18-inch x 10-inch front, 19-inch x 13-inch rear polished forged aluminum five-spoke wheels.

All Viper SRT-10 Roadsters came with a manual convertible roof design with an easy single-latch operation, a glass rear window, and a tonneau cover to hide the top once it was down.

Inside, the Copperhead Edition featured Black leather complemented by Orange stitching and embroidered Viper text logos on the seat backs. The SRT-10’s cockpit featured a push-button start, satin chrome-accented shifter, gearshift boot trim ring, parking brake release handle, door handles, and release levers. Each Copperhead Edition featured a serialized plaque, in this case, this car is numbered 212/300.

The 8.3-liter VIPER V-10 engine could propel the roadster from 0 to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, 0 to 100 mph in 8.36 seconds, and to a 1/4-mile time of 11.77 @ 123 mph, depending on how fast the driver could shift the car’s T-56 Tremec 6-speed transmission. This particular car reads 4,081 original miles on the odometer.

Vipers have been taking in record amounts lately. It is expected that this one should follow that pattern as well.

Scheduled to cross the auction block tomorrow at the Mecum Chattanooga event, it will be interesting to see what this car will go for once the auction is over.
