Timothy Adry Emmanuel (@adry53customs) loves to stir the pot with some of his automotive designs. His latest digital concept—a high-performance version of the Dodge Attitude, using the SRT-4 name. The Dodge Attitude has traditionally been a practical, entry-level sedan available in Mexico, but Emmanuel’s vision for an SRT-4 version transforms the newest variant into a spirited compact sedan.
A Legacy of Affordable Performance: Neon SRT-4’s Influence –
The concept draws inspiration from Dodge’s history of offering affordable performance cars, especially the 2003 Dodge Neon SRT-4. Back then, the Neon SRT-4 delivered an impressive 215 horsepower, boosted to 230 horsepower in 2004, from a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine—all for a price under $22,000 (around $37,700 today when adjusted for inflation). It became a game-changer, providing a level of performance that was very attainable at that price point. With its accessible cost and fun-to-drive nature, the Neon SRT-4 quickly developed a dedicated following, setting the standard for what a compact performance car could be.
Emmanuel’s Vision: A Modern Take on the SRT-4 –
Emmanuel’s reimagined Dodge Attitude SRT-4 aims to recapture that spirit, returning the SRT badge to a smaller sedan format. His digital render showcases a bold, aggressive design that sets it apart from the current crop of compact sedans. The Attitude SRT-4 features a widebody stance, with muscular fenders and styling cues inspired by Dodge’s high-performance models, including an assertive front fascia and large air intakes. The concept rides on rose-gold wheels wrapped in 285-wide tires—similar to those found on the now-retired Dodge Challenger T/A 392—giving the car a planted, track-ready look.
Power Meets Practicality: The Turbocharged Heart –
Emmanuel’s vision doesn’t stop at aesthetics; the heart of his Attitude SRT-4 concept is a turbocharged inline-four engine, envisioned to produce around 280 to 300 horsepower. This powertrain could provide a balanced blend of performance and everyday practicality, offering the driving excitement enthusiasts crave without breaking the bank at the pump. The Chinese-built Attitude currently packs a standard turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four-cylinder, producing a modest 168 horsepower and 184 ft.-lb. of torque. A turbocharged engine would deliver the quick acceleration and lively driving dynamics that made the Neon SRT-4 a hit but with modern fuel efficiency and emissions standards in mind.
In the U.S. market, where high interest rates and rising vehicle prices have made affordability a critical factor, a compact sedan like this could appeal to those who want a fun, performance-oriented car without the premium price tag. If Dodge could bring such a vehicle to market for under $35,000, it would provide a new entry point for the brand, potentially attracting younger buyers and fans of spirited driving.
The Current Dodge Attitude: A Hidden Gem –
The Dodge Attitude in Mexico, a rebranded GAC Empow sedan, offers a modern, well-equipped compact option. Some U.S. and Canadian enthusiasts see it as a model that could help Dodge re-enter the compact sedan market, which the brand left after the Dodge Dart.
Bringing the Attitude or a similar model to North America could be smart, especially with a performance option like Emmanuel’s Attitude SRT-4 concept. However, it would need to be built in the U.S. for success, as consumers increasingly favor American-made products—especially from brands like Dodge under Stellantis. An American-built, affordable performance sedan could help Dodge regain ground in this segment.
A Potential Lifeline for Dodge in a Changing Market –
Dodge faces challenges as it navigates a shift toward electrification, the end of its HEMI® V8 era in the Dodge Durango, and a higher price point for most of its lineup. While the all-electric Dodge Charger Daytona and the upcoming 2025 Dodge Charger SIXPACK promise to carry the brand’s performance legacy forward, a smaller, affordable, turbocharged sedan could fill a niche that has been vacant for years.
With high interest rates and no new models priced under $30,000, Dodge’s transformation from a value-driven, performance brand to a premium offering has left some of its core buyers looking elsewhere. A vehicle like the Attitude SRT-4 could be a way for Dodge to reconnect with its roots, offering a performance-oriented car that is both accessible and thrilling to drive.
