VinFast Previews Production EV Pickup With A Ranger-Sized Concept

If VinFast can get over the quality control issues that plagued the VF 8, it could have a winner on its hands.

The electric pickup segment is one of the hottest sectors in the auto market right now, with compelling vehicles like the Ford F-150 Lightning, Tesla Cybertruck, and Rivian R1T making headlines daily. VinFast is preparing its own entry, showing off its VF Wild EV truck concept at CES 2024 as a preview of a future production model.

There little WuLing style small CUV is the true future of EVs. If CARB is really going to make an impact with their mandates it is through replacing the massive fleet of old used cars with something affordable and appropriate for short trips inside a Metro.

These start at $6500... Chery has a copy... so do several other manufacturers. Pretty sure BYD does also. They are everywhere.

I posted about a Ram 700 type pickup truck in another thread. We need a relatively affordable small truck sold here. It should be in addition too, not instead of a future domestic Rampage, which will be larger and more expensive. Logistics rules out the Brazilian built Ram 700. Such a vehicle has to be adaptable to our motor vehicle standards and built in a location to allow for easy importation. Building a small truck here doesn't work, since the sales numbers wouldn't be high enough solely for North America. It should be available in both battery electric and hybrid with traditional ICE power for other markets.
