The Detroit News - Next Dodge Challenger will get electric-motor boost

thank you for the chart Bili, know I understand what they are talking about when I hear about electric turbos / stuff like that.
The chart from FCA does break down there direction with such technologies.
I like to see where the Challenger / Chargers would be on that chart .....
 
And explain some of the rumours that I heard about electric turbos or etorque for the next gens and Hemi's. Sounds cool. But how long is the delay? Still coming for 2021?

The cars are not coming for the 2021 model year and that hasn't been the plan for quite some time.

According to what “plan”. This topic has come a lot on threads that you and I have participated on and I never saw a plan presented. What did I miss?

Insiders have posted about it. Of course, internal plans are not generally presented to the public. 2021 will almost certainly be another model year of the same Charger and Challenger, maybe with a few new tweaks and some performance models. The new cars will come sometime after that.
 
I was gonna ask the same question.
I do remember we were saying 2021 for the new L-cars. Then somehow I found and read it is 2023.
Now with what Ryan is saying, I think it is more safe to say it got delayed beyond 2021 again.
To be honest, I can’t blame them. Between 2020 and 2022, they will be busy with introducing the WL Grand Cherokee and WD Wagoner and their variants, which are the money maker in the current market.
 
Weird question. Does anyone know if the rear seat delete in the Challenger can be opened into the trunk? I'd like that option if the rear seat was gone and the trunk passthrough was left intact for more cargo room.

I don't think so. My car was supposed to have the rear seat delete and it's something I'll be ordering so I'll let you know.

Thanks. That's something that would make me interested in a Challenger. From the pictures, it looks like it blocks the trunk passthrough which would be really impractical IMO, unless the panel can be removed.

Too bad we didn't get a refresh in 2019 or 2020.

I'm guessing the panel can be removed but they like to keep it there for reinforcement if i had to guess, help keep the body from twisting

I don’t think a plastic panel would help much with that?
 
There is no better way than P2 MHEV to replace current supercharged HEMI. It can fed electric supercharger for low rpm while for high there is a turbo.
 
I think the next upgrade of the next Hellcat engine will have a mild-hybrid tech of some way of what FCA showed.
I don’t think HEMI will come factory turbocharged.

Mild hybrid especially in a P2 form where electric motor is integrated into transmission is more than suitable to fed electric supercharger which is excellent for use at low to mid rpm. What's the best at mid to high rpm? Turbocharger! So the answer is a very simple one if they'll not switch to a PHEV. MHEV solution like this will add none to little weight while it will improve fuel economy.
