Even though lawmakers and President Donald Trump rolled back California’s strictest-in-the-nation emissions rules, Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is still on the hook for meeting aggressive electric vehicle (EV) sales targets in the Golden State, and that’s going to be a tough road.

California is not giving up and the Case Law through Supreme Court supports them.

I say give CARB what they want. If I ran the circus, I would flip through my Rolodex and call up Leapmotor. I would assemble a team who would plan and implement everything possible to flood California with domestic market Leap T03 models at prices which undercut everything. This would overwhelm the EV Charging support network and possibly the electrical grid.

Since the settlement also includes putting charging stations in public parks, my team would do everything possible to make the effort impractical, such as choose hardware that is more attractive to copper thieves, poor placement and lighting.

Yeah bet they don't care, crashing the system into public transport is the ultimate goal.

But yes the Sub-B $15K is the best adoption plan. Make a basic 2 and 3 row car and flood the market... Where you can get a new vehicle for the cost of Used high mileage.

The problem with that is since public transportation in the US is basically a ward of the state, bureaucratic ineptitude is crashing that network faster than whatever is planned for private automobile use. Look what happened with the battery electric busses in Philadelphia recently.

I live in CT and as I write this I am on vacation in San Diego. Cruising the highways here is incredible seeing all the Teslas and EV‘s, unbelievable, UGH. Glad I rented a big ol’ Durango. Not sure it the Cali folks are giving me dirty looks because I am driving a gas guzzler ICE vehicle or they think I am a CHP officer. lol This is so worth paying almost $5.00 a gallon just to see the disgusted looks on their faces!!!
