Stellantis Shuffles Maserati Production Amid Factory Optimization

Stellantis Shuffles Maserati Production Amid Factory Optimization

GranTurismo and GranCabrio Manufacturing Moves to Modena as Stellantis Reshapes Operations

Stellantis is shaking up its production strategy for Maserati, shifting the GranTurismo and GranCabrio assembly from its current Turin facility to the smaller Modena plant, where the high-performance MC20 is built. This strategic move is part of a broader effort to enhance efficiency and strengthen the automaker’s relationship with the Italian government.

Let’s not read too much into this shuffle, it’s consistent with an automaker adjusting manufacturing to market conditions. The unfortunate and unfounded decision on electrification by Maserati and the misreading of the consumer, some might say deliberately, has led to this situation. Discontinuing, admittedly stagnant product long overdo for updating, prematurely without replacement added to the financial expense foolishness to accommodate this flawed decision, all major factors. Call it a critical mass of errors on a grand scale, driven by progressive group think.
Fundamentally there is nothing wrong with Maserati that sound management and market driven product can not fix. Sure sales of the Ghibli in particular was troublesome, not the vehicle itself honestly, it was popular for years, but its cost cutting planned neglect and the predictable languishing on the market where it once flourished when first launched. The plan to combine sedans is sound, its product launch, delayed by the electrification hoax automakers bought hook line and sinker, is way overdue.
Maserati is a fantastic and special brand, if only its management team were also.
