Stellantis Lays Off 191 Workers At SHAP Amid EV Transition

Stellantis Lays Off 191 Workers At SHAP Amid EV Transition

Job Cuts Come As Stellantis Prepares For Electric Ram 1500 REV Production...

Stellantis is laying off 191 workers at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) in Michigan as it prepares to produce the highly anticipated all-electric Ram 1500 REV pickup. The automaker announced that 177 temporary workers, referred to as supplemental employees, will be separated from the company effective October 1. Additionally, 14 full-time workers will be laid off starting September 28.

According to Stellantis, the temporary workers were brought in to cover increased vacation time during the summer months, a common practice in the auto industry. The company cites ongoing assessments of its manufacturing processes and efforts to improve efficiency as reasons for the layoffs.

And the demand for EV is lower so it is double whammy.

If the aging boomers demanding pushrod V8s and rejecting modern EV power trains were a major factor in the car buying public, Stellantis would be printing money.

Instead the lots are clogged with multiple model years of unsold gas guzzlers.

Meanwhile GM and Ford EV sales are soaring and Tesla continues to set new profit records.

Stellantis is a dead company walking. Endless labor disputes, the company suing its own workers, and a portfolio of overpriced product with horrible quality and angry suppliers being squeezed to further slash quality and eke a few more pennies of cost out of the equation.

Stellantis has, as of this writing, no viable small, midsized or full sized cars at all. It’s truck and SUV line is aging, plagued with quality problems, and hugely overpriced.

Morale is in the toilet as the company discusses shutting down the Chrysler operations in Michigan and becoming a small sales org for uninspired designs from Turkey and India with old US brands slapped on the hood with big markups.

Maybe if those V8's weren't so overpriced at the factory, they would not be clogging the lots. I see Hellcats at 9 to 10 K off sticker trying to move them.
I did a search for '24 Rams within a 100 miles of my city, looking for a V8. The only ones left are some Tradesmans and some dealer installed lifted trucks.
It looks like GM figured out how to redo their V8s without going the turbo route, while gaining the same efficiency as the 3.0. This is where Ram and Dodge should have gone. https://gmauthority.com/blog/2024/1...erra-v8-engines-to-get-improved-fuel-economy/ They could still have offered the 3.0 and an improved Hemi. Maybe if Ram sales keep tanking, they will realize the error of their way. Some of their damage is self inflected too. There are guys on the 5th Gen Ram forum who ordered their trucks back in Jan and Feb , Limiteds and Tungstens, and still don't have them.

UAW Local 1166 Votes Against Strike Authorization Amid Stellantis Tensions

Local 1166 Represents Workers at Kokomo Casting Plant...

In a closely watched decision, United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 1166 in Kokomo, Indiana, voted against authorizing a strike against Stellantis. The motion fell short at 61% approval—about four percentage points away from the necessary threshold. This outcome has significant implications for the union and its members as they navigate a complex landscape of corporate commitments and labor negotiations.

Politics aside, and I am a very politically motivated person in this election, what bothers me the most is this repeated psycho-babble rhetoric that generally messages suggestively and cunningly with the purpose to indoctrinate vulnerable or gullible listeners with the phrase “as we transition to an electrification future”. This is called suggestive cued thought manipulation that by its repeated language plants in one’s mind an inevitable outcome, it moves possibility to a false fact. Used for decades to move the masses to a groups way of thinking, it is what bothers me the most from these green agenda committed spokesperson influencers. Sneaky lot aren’t they ?
Like hopefully a majority of Americans, I see what’s going on here, I reject their suggestive and false premise, and will vote in a week to silence that message and lie. Just BS folks, just BS !
