Part of this situation is because America is now a socialist utopia. Another part of this is because the clowns running the show keep delaying new products. The new products that are introduced are highway leviathans and not the fuel efficient models people now want. In fairness to Auburn Hills the years involved are the ones where the Fiat 500 operations in Toluca, MX were wound down along with the Fiat 500e compliance car program. The sales numbers were small, but the compliance car program was used to great advantage to bring about the next generation 500e. Oh yeah, those years were in the decade which the Hemi hybrid PHEV project ran. I don't see any hybrid Hemi Rams on the horizon, but the plugin Jeep models sold here are popular and wouldn't be possible without what was gleaned from that project.

Fiats are niche products, but so are Ram TRX pickups and SRT Dodges. Maybe Stellantis should have offered a more diverse hybrid lineup instead of just the minivan, but everything has to be a Jeep so there was never a Chrysler or Dodge branded crossover which used the PHEV Pacifica's setup. We now have a badge engineered Dodge import on the way, but the hybrid model won't be sold in great numbers when it gets here.
