SPOTTED: 2023 Dodge Hornet C-SUV Prototype!

The New Dodge Is Now Testing With 21-Inch Wheels...

Just a few weeks ago, we saw our first spy photos of the 2023 Dodge Hornet (GG) testing stateside. The new Hornet is the corporate twin to the all-new 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale. Both C-segment crossovers will be built in Italy, at the Stellantis Pomigliano d’Arco Assembly Plant.

Set to make its debut in August, the new Hornet will be the Dodge brand’s first electrified vehicle. Offering a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model, the Hornet will pave the way for an entire lineup of electrified options from the American performance brand.

You work with the budget your given. This has not been Manley approach or the approach from FCA in over a decade. This has Pepe Le Cheapskate written all over it, in fact the entire GG program has been de-contented from the moment they took the reins, the Tonale was supposed to be full of exotic metal replacement components level 2 lightening and in the end it a styling exercise on the SUSW.
Tonale shouldn’t be sold here if this is. That’s the only way they could get away with this level of laziness.

The two cars will literally be identical aside from the front clip and probably tail lights. One is from a relatively unknown brand with very few dealerships and a poor quality reputation, the other is from a well-known American brand with a large number of dealers. Obviously it makes more sense to only keep the Dodge.

Manley moved the Grecale and MC20 from Alfa to Maserati and made the decision for the Hornet. He clearly wanted to turn Alfa into a Dodge twin for Europe. Similar to the Tipo/Neon debacle.
If the idiot continued there he would've killed Alfa in the US completely.

Imparato might've forced some changes to the Tonale project, but IMO they guarantee that it'll have a better change of having a good return on investment on it, even if that meant paring down some things.

Its funny part of the group want car count at any way possible even the old Iacocca model. Then some are calling it Lazy. Reality is the Alfa network and geography sparce. They need traffic model. The project needs volume, Dodge.

Absolutely, which is why they should offer it as a Dodge here and an Alfa in other countries.

I'm not against offering a brother model of the Tonale as a Dodge! IMO, it's the only way to make it economically viable even. But the same could be said of the Renegade and 500X and those two models couldn't look and feel more different. They could've made the Hornet more different than what we know is coming. The Tonale is already extremely different from the Compass and it shares a lot with it.
The Hornet should be more different. Different headlights for example, a different rear bumper, different interior...

Why the Alfa are so far and few that beyond Geeks like us no one is going to Care. Its not like the old days with nearly identical models sitting on the same lots. Helps Dodge and give Alfa a car to drive traffic. Plus I haven't seen it yet... that there is not what we saw earlier.

Still trying to make it look like Tonale, look at the tape on the lights

Wow.

Tell me its a rebadge without telling me it's a rebadge.

Having said that, if the 80km highway range is true, that could be very interesting for us. Rear design is too swoopy though IMO.
