Stellantis has just announced a big move on the design front — veteran designer Scott Kruggerhas been appointed as the new Head of North America Design. The role is brand new and puts Krugger in charge of shaping the creative direction and design strategy for four of the most iconic American brands under the Stellantis umbrella: Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, and Ram.

Frankly, I’m excited about the appointment of Scott Krugger to this crucial position, anticipating fresh, yet experienced eyes on styling that is solidly “American Focused”. That last Viper was genius and under recognized as such.
His influence to my critical eyes has been dramatic under conformity restraints of engineering and other policies that speak to shortsighted leadership now ousted.
Among the opportunities presenting themselves, desperate for more genius going forward, are Dodge: Viper, Cuda, Stealth, much needed mid-size products,
Chrysler: everything you could imagine,
Ram: Dakota and Rampage.
Jeep: in all market segments including the future Comanche small pickup.
Sometimes the playing field is wide open and an Elway level quarterback can have a generational impact that changes fortunes and wins Super Bowls.
Here’s hoping because I’m going deep goalposts and I’m open.

Scott is the perfect fit for the position, in my opinion. He has been the Head of Dodge Design for the past three years, and the new Charger (LB) is the brainchild of him and Jeff Gale. I had a chance to talk to Scott recently, and he told me that he doesn't just want to do retro muscle cars. He said he wants to incorporate hints of the past into new designs that push forward, and that's exactly what the new Charger shows. So if you like the new Charger and vehicles like the Gen V Viper, then you are probably going to love the direction he takes the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, and Ram brands.
