Ram Pulls The Plug On It’s All-Electric Ram 1500

Ram Pulls The Plug On It’s All-Electric Ram 1500

Focus Shifts to Extended-Range Ram 1500 REV

Ram has made a significant change in direction. Stellantis has confirmed that it will no longer move forward with a fully electric pickup for the U.S. market. Instead, the company will put its weight behind its range extending electric vehicle (REEV) version of the Ram 1500, a truck it believes better fits the needs of American buyers.

Shocking !! Sorry, could not help it guys. Of course they did, it was a black hole of financial waste. Now I hear no ordering 2026 EVs, that one gave me a little zap, but (here I go again) not shocking.
Love the name switch, rescuing the exciting Ramcharger name for something, well, shocking like a Wagoneer spinoff Ram with a Hemi.
Not going to push my luck here, but I totally agree with both decisions as REV fits better on the Ram hybrid and Ramcharger can find a more appropriate home in the Ram lineup. Nice to see smart decision making at Ram and it looks like other brands too.
Now where did I put my wire cutters ? Zip, zip .

Indeed. REV can stand for something relatable now and Ramcharger needs to just be mothballed as a name while RAM (as they like to style it) is a brand name. No one will remember this little blip in time and name swap come Dec of 2026.

RAM 1500 REV is easy to say and people may actually use the full name depending on final badging
RAM 1500 RamCharger was already getting shortened to RAM RamCharger . How long before people would start calling it the RAM Charger

Anyway - regardless of your preference for EV or ICE, RAM was late to the game and didn't measurable differentiate with their BEV other than maybe range. That was not enough. The R-E-EV is a differentiator and if the winds change, they have a BEV in the wings that can ride on the popularity of the 1500REV or it does not and they move on....

REV can't get here fast enough. It is the immediate future, and RAM and Mopar in general cannot continue to fall backwards into retro-obscurity with only OLD powerplants.

We used to be first with stuff, now we are dead last. And happy about it as long as it is loud.

The decision to cancel the BEV version was made for the exact same reason they made the decision to bring back the V8s and put them everywhere they will fit: they want to make lots of money, not bleed lots of money.

The problem with Stellantis is that they continue to spend eternity trying to get product to market. We needed the range extended electric truck a year ago. We needed the new Dakota a year ago. They should have added electrified options to the portfolio WITH the V8s. Instead, the morons canceled the V8s and still didn't deliver the REV, Ramcharger, or a good midsize option. Ramcharger would have been far more meaningful than the Hurricane.
