President Donald Trump wasted no time making his mark on U.S. energy policy, declaring a “national energy emergency” and signing a flurry of executive orders on his first day back in office. Among the most significant moves for the auto industry is the elimination of what Trump calls the“electric vehicle mandate.”

One of the reasons for the constitution being written in the first place was to prevent one state from imposing their laws on another state. CARB overstepped their mandate and will be neutralized.
Doesn't already settled law. It doesn't impose anything on me as long as OEM produce products compliant to both markets. Again, love the optimism it just not going to happen. Certainly, isn't a business plan.

RV industry is already out of business in those states. Going to be cold as hell not running your heater in Frostbite Falls so your EV can make it work. brrrrrrrr so far some common sense has fallen on your state, but look at NY. Rochester in the winter with Electric heat only is going to be brutal.
 
I suspect some of the CARB state voters, such as California, may be having a change of heart on how their state is governed, in light (no pun intended) of recent events in that state. I feel a movement is going to happen and drop kick Newsom and a few others out of office. Californians also love their ICE cars and trucks so I suspect it would happen eventually anyway. Half of Oregon wants to be part of Idaho and now half of Illinios wants to secede and become part of Indiana. They are probably still counting votes from the last election in most CARB states. I suspect that will change and we will actually see some common sense laws come to pass in all states.
And I am certainly pro technology. I love the new electronics in the cars but not the battery part of equation. The technology in a Tesla is very impressive. And it's right at your fingertips on an easy to access screen. The same in my Ram although it is not quite as comprehensive. It is getting there, though.
 
I drove a Mustang Mach-e last night in -15F temperature. There was a warning glaring at me from the instrument cluster stating only 26 miles of range and to charge immediately. The battery was at 30% charge. Do the math. I parked it at the charging station but didn't plug it in, why bother.

I wore my summer clothes at work last night, cargo shorts and a pocket T-shirt. It is much more comfortable under the other two layers of clothing. I recommend anyone owning an EV to buy a snowmobile suit for cold weather driving.
 
Mustang is in big trouble, million L engines recalled at GM. Corvette is basically exotic with volume to match.
The Mustang has always been a niche vehicle with no real backseat. They should just make it a 2 seater with a hatch and be done with it. It's a halo car, but it's a bada$$ halo car.
The issues with GM on the engines and transmissions are, from what I have been told by people who should know, is that in order to afford all of the electrification to meet the mandate, have outsourced more and more critical parts to sources in China. And now these issues are costing them more than if they'd have kept them in the USA. Their engines and transmissions certainly used to be more dependable than they are now.
The Corvette is a true domestic supercar at a reasonable price for the performance that you get. I hate that the Viper is done and gone. SRT could have done the mid engine Viper, which was on the drawing board at one time, but they were defunded. The Corvette would not be the car it is today had it not been for the Viper.
 
You all name the OEM that is punting on half the country like all y’all are advocating?

Betting on a massive roll back? When by 35’? The requirements started 2 weeks ago.
 
Soooooooo............let's think about all of this for a moment. We've got the Legendary Tim Kuniskis back with the brand. Our enigmatic 47th President pushing back the EV mandates and wanting to "DRILL, BABY, DRILL!!" going on and Stellantis now making this big push to revive the Mopar brands. What does all of this really mean? Well, for starters We will at least see at least one or two Mopar models with Hemi engines continuing on but I have a feeling it will pretty much just be in the Ram Trucks and they'll be offered as an option like the 5.0L V8 is for the F150. I don't foresee any of the Hemi pushrod engines being offered in any of the rest of the Mopar lineup, especially not on the STLA Large platform. But that doesn't mean a V8 won't come into play for the STLA Large platform performance vehicles. The 3.0L S/O might make the base car (although, I'm thinking a 3.6L Pentastar with a new Gen4 8-speed hybrid would make much more sense) but I think we are going to see a family of DOHC V8 engines pop up, probably based off the Pentastar V6 potentially around the 4.7L 5.2L & a Supercharged 5.9L V8 displacement size. Figuring Ford's N/A 5.2L Voodoo engine made 526hp, saying that Mopar might up the number to like 535hp wouldn't be bad. Leaving room for a 350hp base car with about 375lb-ft of torque from the Pentastar hybrid, a 480hp 4.7L V8 with about 425lb-ft of torque, and a 795hp 5.9L Supercharged V8. This leaves room for the Hurricane powertrains to move to Jeep & Chrysler, and for the Hemi to return to ram.

👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 😁😁😁😁😁😁...It's too bad that 2023 was the last of the Dodge Challenger V8 Hemi motors 392 V8 SRT Shakers as well as the more aggressive Hellcats and Redeyes. If these vehicles survived and went to 2025 with TRUMP as president currently perhaps these cars would have survived this EV mess.🤑🤮🤧

It's too late...Stellantis / Dodge had their chance with the last generation of Challengers with V6 and different V8 Hemis along with the great classic 1970 classic design with a full size comfortable cruising car with a real trunk available with 8 spd. automatic trans or a 6 spd. manual. Now they are gone if you want to purchase new. Don't ever get one of these cars USED as you risk buying some one else's problems who beat the car to death and did not break it in CORRECTLY.
There are no choices left but the standard Mustang GT 5.0 Coyote V8 for us common folks available with 10 spd. automatic or manual trans. Forget this $325,000 Track Mustang (Don't need a track Mustang/car for the street to punish your body to death on these public roads. Same goes for the ugly base model Corvette as well as the higher end Corvette models for the track. These 2 higher end model cars are just too expensive for us common folk and too many hi-tech problems, with high maintenance and insurance costs.🤑

As said in the past, "Mustang does it again". Whether you like them or not they are the only ones left standing with both a V8 and electric for those that want EV's🤢🤮. No more Challengers, No more Camaros. No competition left. What's even worse is no more Trans-AM that we lost in 2002 though I would love to get a 1970 1/2 T/A Ram Air III 400 engine or a 1971 T/A 455 HO (Even a 1972 or 1973 standard 455 engine) but these are so limited in production from the UAW strike back then that if you can find a genuine T/A from that era that isn't a counterfeit expect to pay $100,000+for a 54 year old vehicle whose company Pontiac has gone out of business. You have a have a better chance of getting a 2002 Trans AM which was the last year the T/A was built but that is a totally different animal and generation The 350 Corvette motor was just too far into the engine compartment in that 4th generation body to have easy access for maintenance to change those 8 spark plugs. But that's the current reality on that last year of the 2002 T/A which you do not see much of on the streets. The 2002 Yellow Collector model is nice in my eyes as well as the 1994 White with blue stripe 25 Anniversary model with 350 LT1 engine -which had Opti-Spark ignition problems with water drainage. The1999 30th Anniversary white with blue stripe models are also beautiful but again dealing with limited production vehicle that is used. I am skeptical of dealing with some one else problems who beat the car to death, or didn't break the car in properly and basically trashed these cars. I learned my lessons and bought cars new instead for to keep 20 to 30 years. They were nice but feel apart easily with those cheap glass T-Tops that used velcro tape to hold those T-tops dark tint shades in place to protect you from baking inside the interior were just so cheesy. I would have preferred a hard top coupe and leave those T-Top option alone. That GM interior was cheap in manufacture and didn't hold up on the 4th Generation T/A's with the pop up air brake halogen lights. I had a 3rd generation 78 T/A that was falling apart/unreliable with no power for acceleration with 2.56 rear end. It was a low RPM 4,000 LB. freeway cruiser that I got 10 MPG at best. It was comfortable and great handling.
 
Go get a Mustang while you can, their sales have tanked.
