Please bring 500 e back to US!

What attracts me to the new Fiat 500e is its simplicity and efficiency. It is a myth that all EVs are efficient. To gain range by increasing battery capacity increases weight and also increases charging time. High speed charging tends to decrease battery life.

The Fiat 500e has many proven design features, it is a continuation of research and development used in the previous compliance car and research programs. This isn't what GM did with the Bolt program, where all the previous electrification engineering was tossed into the dumpster for something new. The Bolt woes still continue.

If I was to purchase the Fiat, the smaller battery capacity would be an advantage. I could charge it over night from a regular wall plug or use one of the available level 2 public charging stations. We have Polestar BEVs in our airport fleet which take forever to charge off a standard outlet. We place in each EV a letter of notification to the renter that the nearest high speed charger is 25 miles away.

I'm an urban small car person, and am moving to electric. There is simply not a car being sold in the U.S. that interests me (I truly dislike SUVs). I'd buy a Fiat 500e/La Prima today if I could...and have reserved a Fisker Pear...should that happen. I've looked into buying in Brazil or Europe but U.S. law prevents bringing the car to the U.S. (I guess to protect U.S. dealers). I may have to move to Europe (only partially kidding...since I seem to be so out-of-step with U.S. likes). In any event, guess I'll keep driving my awesome 32-year-old CRX...and keep hoping. Am ready for electric though... Please Fiat, there must be more of me in the U.S.

Bolt?

The Stellantis BEV on CMP get >400 km ranges for 2023. Maybe the 500 will get an update as well.

No one here is used to be numbers on EVs yet, they will get that it is a small car.
I meant range numbers. The 500e is good enough for europeans that drive shorter distances daily. Not sure about americans.

Some of the features in the Charger BEV concept would be great if adopted for an Abarth version of the Fiat 500e. I know one the vendors for FCA built a proof of concept of a front drive BEV powertrain using a transmission along with a torque vectoring differential. This was some time ago, but with the Dodge BEV concept also featuring a transmission, it reminded me of that engineering concept.

My skepticism about battery electric vehicles comes from the politics of implementation. Another problem I have is the favoritism given towards a few manufactures shown by some prominent politicians. I'm not against battery electric power trains, for light commercial vehicles and city cars this technology makes the most sense.

The reason why I wouldn't buy a Fiat 500e is timing, I need a new vehicle now, not later. The lack of charging infrastructure in my area of the country is less of a concern with the Fiat 500e because it doesn't require a huge battery pack, which means charging from the wall outlet next to my parking space is still practical.

If Fiat is going to market the Fiat 500e in North America it must be done in a subtle manner. Where as the ruling elites of America are trying to cram EVs down everyone's throats, Fiat should continue to tell Americans you can't have one, except now offer a way to buy one here with a wink and a nod. The new 500e should be forbidden fruit.

Nah, Just sell it. The politics are set half the nation is going to have no choice in new cars. And it not 12 years away it is three. The cost of selling ICE will be prohibitively expensive asside from the future outright bans. What we feel about free market no longer applies to large concentrations of the populations
