New Jeep Compass-Based Three-Row CUV Spied Testing In Sweden

This really makes all the sense in the world, I agree they're trying to market the Cherokee too wide with current offerings.
Absolutely. I think they're just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. The base Latitude seems more like a rental special. Latitude Plus is like a slightly nicer rental car. The upcoming Sport trim adds off-road goodies to the non-Trailhawk fascia at a cheaper price, so that one's kind of neat but also kind of unnecessary because it's not Trail Rated. Overland only lasted a couple years and High Altitude appears to have taken its place at the top of the trim lineup, being the only trim to now offer painted fascias and cladding.

Hopefully, the next generation Cherokee (KM) solves this issue
And hopefully they just make the 2.0L the only engine. I would have said that it should be standardized in my post above, but they need to keep the V6 around as an excuse for the KL's snout.

The Sport is the base model KL, I know there is that fake Trailhawk package called "Upland" or something, but agreed, it's not Trail Rated and weird.

The Overland/High Atitiude swap is confusing to me as to why they made the even change.

From what I understand you can't order a 2021 Trailhawk with the 2.0l anymore, it's V6 only.

I'd take a KM with 4Xe package with the 2.0l I think, but I'd have to drive one. I wasn't impressed with the 2.0l in the KL I drove, and Premium gas is $1.53/l right now so...

KM needs to have a 6-cylinder option.
All the competitors have.

Which competitors have a 6-cylinder option? Remember, it's not actually a midsize crossover. It competes in the compact segment with Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV-4, Mazda CX-5, and Volkswagen Tiguan.

I have never seen a Cherokee with the 2.0 turbo and I work for a fleet which is constantly rotating stock. The Cherokee Trailhawk is a favorite winter weather ride for customers.

The base Jeep models in our fleet are what I call Disney World specials. The rental fleets order the base model Cherokee and Compass with front drive, and the 2.4 Tigershark. They have the same key setup as the recently discontinued Dodge G. Caravan, and not the pushbutton start. Such Jeeps were ordered for popular tourist destinations in the sunbelt states and usually have Florida, Texas, or California plates. During the pandemic, many went unused, until they became one-way rentals when airline travel became very challenging. So all these front drive stripper Jeeps are still here in Frost Bite Falls and we send people out with them into raging snowstorms.

We also have had an unusual amount of rear drive pickups during the winter. These are also one-way rentals that ended up here, typically from California. You can guess why.

The truth is. Internally Cherokee is developed/designated as a D-segment SUV. Their goals were set in line with this. Some like NVH and drive feel. I think that @FranklinFlyer refereed to this in his post.

Clearly car like Compass has been set against C-segment cars. And not expensive C-segment.

We'll see what will Tonale bring with its evolution step of Small Wide.

They missed the mark then, because it's smaller inside and out than most D-segment crossovers. It may have the driving manners of one, but that's only part of the equation. It must grow in size to truly compete in that segment.

But why? The V6 was not available with the facelift anymore. Mostly Diesel, and Overland and Trailhawk with the 2.0 Hurricane. Trailhawk was 2.0 only. Was, because I just learned, no 2021 Trailhawk in Europe. The Trailhawk is finally canceled.

He is talking about North America.

Eh...

BTW. I find strange that the only vehicle with cast iron 2.2 liter diesel was Jeep Cherokee. What the odd choice and waste of resources. Of course it's a lot better than 2.0. It's strange that they didn't offer it on Compass in Europe.

I always thought and considered Ford Edge to compete with Cherokee, which has a V6.
Even if we consider KL as a compact size , the next CX5 is going to have an Inline-6 based on the rumors and might as well grow in size.
I think, we know the next KM is going to grow in size as well.
