Ford Motor Co. is quietly shipping thousands of 2020 Ford Explorers and Lincoln Aviators by truck from its Chicago factory to its Flat Rock plant south of Detroit as workers desperately attempt to identify and fix a series of complicated problems in the much-awaited SUVs.

Dealers in different parts of the country confirm they’ve been notified of delays because of “manufacturing issues,” leading one dealership to say the team has had to “pacify” frustrated customers who have spent significant dollars on preorders. No one from corporate is providing details, said a Ford source outside Michigan, who asked that he not be identified because it would anger folks in Dearborn. “We usually learn stuff from the news media.”

Some of the vehicles already have been recalled, including from dealer lots.

Trackhawks had some teething problems at JNAP when they first came out.... I got pics of hundreds in process.. back then.

It happens.

Puts all the complaints about 5th gen Ram SHAP launch into perspective.

I was behind a new Explorer at a stoplight here in DC a couple days ago and noticed a very poorly aligned rear hatch and bumper cover. The left side and left bottom of the door was actually touching the bumper cover. The right side was fine. Pretty sure it'd rub the white paint off after a few uses. This is my first sighting so no way to compare to other Explorers yet.

Very low sales numbers from these products so far. I presume it's connected with this issue.

I wonder if the Ford forums are crucifying the company leadership as bad as certain Mopar “fans” do..?

They are actually, I’d say Mopar “fans” are still the worst for that though. Also it seems that there have been issues the whole way around since launch and it’s finally reached a boiling point. Having to X-Ray the subframes is not a good thing.

Mostly, only the Mopar fans at Allpar..Most of those bigmouth FANS don't even own an FCA product.
