LIVE: Unveiling Of The All-New Three-Row 2021 Jeep® Grand Cherokee L:

I was expecting that as well. I bet when it comes to Europe (probably in 2-row version) it will come with the 2.0, in a MHEV configuration.
I'm surprised it got a V8 considering that the excuse they gave to not have new Dodges in the Giorgio platform was that it couldn't take V8's. They should just come out and say that sedans are dying and unprofitable.

Its not the same platform. A Stelvio will not run down Mack line. The truth is the Giorgio build points cannot accommodate a V8 or compatible with build points to make this or LX replacement. And since there is no way to do a Capacity shuffle, like they have been doing it needs to be a running change which is why the magical word ARCHITECTURE is being used. You apply the Giorgio lessons to a build points that meet the application or the capacity. You also modify it for the application. Been trying to explain this for years as people from another site lost their minds and said Giorgio development was stolen Chrysler money and would never be used at Chrysler. It not 1980 where you hack a car in to 1/4s then put every model you make on it...... Wait maybe with PSA they will go back retro

Well... They used an innovative way to mount engine and transmission.

Actually, there was the way to put V8 into it but it would came with some compromises like higher center of gravity. They mitigated it on WLs.

@redriderbob
Do you know if they plan to spread this gorgeous Summit interior to models below the Grand Cherokee? IMO, Jeep could definitely give Land Rover/Range Rover a run for their money if that's the case.
