Fail! This video is private!
I'm sure the video must have been informative. Perhaps that
Moparinsiders article,
Hybrids Take the Lead has some connection to the mystery video. I'm only guessing.
Comments hasn't been opened up for the news article about the fuel economy standards rollback either. So I'm posting here.
The
Forbes Breaking News YouTube channel ran an hour of the meeting with the President, Secretary Duffy, auto industry executives, various politicians, and car dealer representatives. One part of that one hour video has lit up the internet. President Trump wants to advance Kei vehicles. The only auto executive to jump on that idea was Antonio Filosa, and he seemed enthusiastic about the concept. Jim Farley and the GM rep seemed to recoil at the suggestion, while the dealer reps quickly got out their smart phones, and opening up their calculator apps, started typing furiously.
The caveat in this is that the Kei (for lack of an official term) vehicles must be made in America. It is early in the game and we don't know what the other rules are. The Kei Car rules in Japan are very restrictive and one doesn't see them marketed out side Japan and a few other Asian countries. The smallest Stellantis vehicles are the Citroen Ami, Opel Rocks, and the Fiat Topolino. These models are built to the EU quadricycle specifications, which are close to some American neighborhood vehicle regulations. The Kei trucks sold in the USA are either used ones privately imported or newer ones sold strictly as ATVs.
So how small is small? I'm sure Antonio Filosa would love to bend Sean Duffy's ear and suggest a 100" wheelbase, width under 70" , and an overall length under 160". Boom, the Grande Panda qualifies. Engine size should be larger than the Japanese rules, but no larger than 1,500cc. That's just my guess.
I will comment further on the following thread:
Tiny Topolino Touches Down In The U.S.
BTW, small trucks should be allowed a longer wheelbase of say 110". Now I can have a Ram 700.
