If anyone's interested in a first contact review of the Avenger EV by a portuguese website.
They gave it an overall evaluation of 8/10 but complained that real world consumption was much higher than reported on WLTP cycle (19.3kWh/100km to 12.5kWh/100km). This is a bit ridiculous since other CMP-based EVs have WLTP consumption around 15kWh/100km, so it seems they included a number that is too disconnected from reality to show a nice round 400km of range for it. In reality the range will probably be 350km or less.
That's disappointing to me.
 
what is the current ambient at test? People don't realize how effected battery efficiency is by temperature even if it is a self-heating battery that is consumption.
 
Maybe so, but even then I am skeptical of the range numbers announced by Stellantis.
They seem to be wildly optimistic. Guess we'll have to wait a bit more for more accurate range tests. Here in Belgium, in the current range of -5ºC to 5ºC the range of my car went down by around 25%.
Considering I had a 410km range, this has placed my current range at 300km. Fortunately I have charging spots close to work and my apartment (although usually there's a bunch of idiots with combustion cars that block the charging spots).
 
Well if it is only 5 c then for sure your losing a lot of range, that could be helped by not using the environmental systems, how miserable that would be. Then 10 to 15% lose in battery efficiency. It worse if the battery doesn't self heat, but again that can effect range. Even Charging your phone can shorten the range.
 
It's -5ºC. I wish it was 5ºC. LOL.
The battery has self heating, I don't need to stop using heating and all that.
But while in the Summer/Autumn the EV feels like a gas car, in Winter it feels like a smartphone., where you have to charge it every other day. Just an observation.

I just think that if Stellantis announces a wildly optimistic range claim that is proven to be bogus this will lead to a problem for people that expect 400km range and instead of that will get 330km in Summer/Autumn and probably 230km in Winter.
That will be a ridiculous difference.
IMO, they are exaggerating the range because they're technically behind the competition so they are announcing unrealistic numbers to look competitive on paper with the superior EV solutions of VW, Hyundai/KIA and Renault/Nissan.
 
Well PSA solution is great, but range loss due to environmental systems use and ambient are just a reality of EV there is no solution.

They're probably happy they don't need to report EPA numbers.
 
Temp loss is just a reality of the electric solution, you have to rate them at a Constant, most testing considered 70F the standard, Sort of like other mileage rating they are conditional. My car can get between 16 to 26 depending on the conditions and how I drive it greatly effecting the range. I suppose one could make an argument that there should be Ambient/Freezing for BEVs

Interesting article on Minnesota while I was confirming that some here are in denial. Tha Minnesota which is darn cold and darn progressive is struggling with the reality of cold weather range. How they really want to join the other states on zero emission bandwagon, but it is just not practical.

... and our local and state officials are simply lying about the availability of high speed chargers. They also lie about how many level 2 chargers exist. They are not off by a few, but are off by a lot.

Are you in Minnesota..... definetly they look to be one of the first Progressive States to have reality smack them in the face.

I live in Minnesota. Reality has slapped the local progressives here so hard and so often that their calloused souls no longer feel anything. It is really a red state run by blue elites.
Back to the topic of EV range in cold weather, here is a video of a compliance Fiat 500e running around on a sub-zero (F) day in the Twin-Cities. Please note that the first-gen 500e was introduced 10 years ago so it is now outdated. The range in good weather was only about 80 miles, so the 57 miles of range in a sub zero temperature isn't too bad of a percentage loss. In the following video look for the turtle icon and the outside temperature on the display.🥶
 
14% Range loss is pretty significant. So, the colder is the infrastructure you need not less.

Isn't like Illinios? There is Chicago and then the rest of the state. Its the twin cities then the rest of the state. Wisconsin in Madison and Milwakee and the rest of the state.
 
Minnesota has the DFL which stands for Democrat-Farm-Labor party, this places them much further left than most Democrats. The labor unions still have a strong grip in the mining regions up north and the farmers also generally walk in lock step with the DFL. So the environmentalists within the party push EVs which don't use ethanol and also want to ban mining. The interests of the miners and farmers are in direct conflict with these party elites, but the losses are worth it, because they "are sticking to the man." Nobody stops and thinks who is really running the show.
