Jeep® is building anticipation for the next-generation Compass (J4U), a key model in the brand’s global strategy. This all-new C-segment SUV rides on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, designed to support multiple powertrains, including internal combustion engines (ICE), e-hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and battery-electric vehicle (BEV) options.

The political situation of tariffs and environmental regulations is changing rapidly here in North America. The market here has rapidly flipped back to ICE power last winter and EV sales have plateaued. Sales projections for electrification are now in doubt. Compounding this is some of the Stellantis attempts at battery electric power have arrived in the marketplace in serious need of sorting out.

We will see the new Compass from a distance as it's introduced in Europe. In my opinion, that power train strategy won't play here. Hopefully that is part of the reason for pausing the launch in North America. Power train electrification has also added another uncertainty for product planning, instant obsolescence. New battery chemistry, hybrid drive advancements and the sudden rise of extended range battery electric technologies cast some serious doubt on last year's product decisions for the Compass.

The idea that this was going to be a EV only launch in NA is unforgivable, and then another year to adjust the powertrain, Literally WTF.

I expect the Tariff thing to sort itself out by then, But Mid Capacity in USA doesn't exist unless they have Belvedere produce both the Large and the MId on the separate lines.

Pretty easy to pivot the large models to Belvedere or Jefferson.

But they can't make REV versions in a few months? Embarrassing.... that it wasn't always the plain, Embrassing ..... How long have the Honda and Toyota vehicles been REV and no one noticed .... Year and Half ..... Embarrassing.

Stellantis had too many people working from home. When Auburn Hills was an active hub of activity there was more opportunity for interaction with suppliers.

Here is an example of what ZF is now offering. Range Extender Systems
