FIAT Chrysler Q4 2019 and Full Year 2019 Earnings

Adam Jonas ask Manley why not go straight to EV and skip Hybrids?

Manley stated "Look outside of these windows" made the point that given FCA's fleet, battery and charging technology hasn't got advance enough to support moving to straight Electric. Hybirds are needed transition technology until more charging comes available and battery gets better.

Manley adds on FCA-PSA will have sustainability targets that are more than meeting regulations.

To a question about GM's strike, Manley puts cold water on GM excuse by saying , "it seems they had plenty of inventory".
He praises the RAM team and the RAM Truck itself.

Manley mentions a step up in competitive incentive spending in the U.S. B-D CUV segments to unhealthy margin levels.Manley says FCA will not chase competition in CUV incentive spending.

Manley once again thanked FCA's employees to close the call.

Those GM cheerleaders at the Detroit News are at it again, taking these earnings and creating a storyline/narrtive that FCA is in dire straits. They leave out Magneti Marelli sale.

Hmh, why would they be?
Because there were still alot that A:Simply look at the current offerings in Europe (I know kind of lazy),B: Some hyping a German short seller report that FCA/VW will have to pay fines,C: Some Analysts who modeled that
FCA needs Tesla credits forever, and D: Skepticism about FCA in Europe in General.

GM lost money in Q4.

But it seems that FCA has bad relationship with media both in US and EU. That's not good. Unfortunately for FCA media outlets are opinion makers.

FCA will combine business with PSA. They will offer even more MHEV and PHEV and even BEV cars in the (near) future. Compliance was only about 2020. European CO2 limits will stand still for 5 years. They are not tightening it by each year as they do it in US.

German car makers are different than FCA, with different plans and different buyers demographics.

Well put! I feel alot the repeat narrative also comes from that FCA doesn't "grandstand" like others do about EV.

This is too true... IMO there's outright hostility from many news outlets against FCA.

PSA is well ahead in electrification. And merging with FCA means that the economies of scale of the new group will immensely in the transition to EVs. If they make gigantic orders to battery manufacturers for FCA and PSA vehicles together, they'll gain much more leverage.

One of "critics" of FCA in Europe as well North America
Ferdinand Dudenhöffer one of the heads of the German CAR-Center Automotive Research at University of Duisburg-Essen (subsidize by Daimler).
He always make outlandish "doom-days" predictions.
