FCA and PSA formally agree to merger:Merger Wednesday

''As along as we are competitors, which means up to the closing, my answer will be ''Yes'' ................
To me that means no,.....and he would have said if the Merger was closed.

I think that a lot of current PSA plans are subject to change including future platform development.

But yes. I agree with you that Tavares implicitly said that Peugeot plans to go after US will most likely change after this merger is completed.

Turin? That's odd. Maybe he has a fetish on premium and luxury brand or he thinks that it's the next or the only part of the business which needs to be fixed.
Turin is chosen as operational HQ for premium and luxury brands but also for brand with big history, i.e. Fiat.
It's also important to note that currently top FCA executives spend more time at Auburn Hills than in Turin.

'if 'the Chairman is an executive Director, he or she will be consulted and work together with the CEO on that basis on important strategic matters affecting Stellantis:''
• budget/long-term strategic planning;
mergers and acquisition transactions, including significant joint-ventures, investments and divestments;
strategic evolution of the brand portfolio and significant product investment;
appointments, succession planning and compensation for key positions in the global executive committee;
• institutional relationships, including relationships with key governmental stakeholders, particularly on matters of strategic significance;
• significant public relations matters and major communication events/topics;
• interaction with principal shareholders and key partners; and
providing leadership to the Stellantis Board and, in crisis circumstances, to the executive management on governance matters and ad hoc crisis management, in each case, without prejudice to the powers of the Stellantis Board.

I suspect there will be plan changes across the board at some point. Much of FCA's planning was centered around creating conditions for a merger. Once the merger is done, many of those plans, like PSA's plans, are OBE (overcome by events), including, and perhaps ESPECIALLY, Peugeot crossing the big pond. That literally makes little sense when Chrysler and Dodge are starved for product.

Given what happens on December 14, and January,20,2021.............would you pay mid $30 ($35,000 mark) for a Chrysler branded Peugeot model that was Made In China?

Just as I think about, the Management team should be announce before Christmas week (next 10 days).
I can see Manley as COO globally, or for the Americas where North America COO and Latin America COO report directly to Manley instead of to Tavares.

I think that structure could be different. At least PSA has it different.

PSA or even Renault usually have CEO and then global COO. And IMO that's future Manley's role.

But unlike at FCA there is big emphasis on brand CEO.
So I think that they will implement it at Stellantis.
So they could skip regional COO rolled.

Also who will retire, who will leave the company...

China import? I doubt that Stellantis will go that route.

Besides... Already with FCA's platform portfolio they have enough options to expand both Dodge and Chrysler offerings.

I attribute the existence of brand CEOs to the vitality and strong visual identity of the PSA brands even when they're almost the same products mechanically.
If they did that for FCA brands I believe it could revive some brands like Chrysler and Dodge. Even Fiat would benefit from that. Lets see.

This is backdoor ban on a entire segment of the economy. The primary state that would be first to implement it first doesn't have infrastructure to support it current electrical demand, and will not be then have the infrastructure to support this type of change, as they are already shutting business down with rolling black outs.

Until Electrical vehicles have self-generating power, this is not the answer. Especially for those who live in very rural areas with long-distances to drive and old electric infrastructure.

its worse than that in Urban areas when a high concentrations of use will suddenly become on demand instead of long term storage as a fluid.

Also being ignored with the bypassing of the legislative process any policy is up for review every 4 years.

@AlexB

It seems that so called European ban for ICE cars is actually ban of non hybrid cars. AFAIK ICE is still part of hybrid cars.

BTW. In Europe there is a political consensus that we mus be "greener". There is no consensus on how quick some goals must be achieved and with which technologies.

The Asian brands have proven that they control the small entry level automobiles time and again. On the other hand FCA is paying huge fines due to their failure to meet the US CAFE standards. Perhaps the PSA line up can succeed where the FIAT brands failed ? Over weight vehicles across the board, this has to change to achive better MPG. Another BIG issue that needs addressing is the problem of serious rust issues RAM, DODGE Challenger across the board in snow belt states !

@DodgeFL

I don't know nothing about FCA platforms weight issue. Where there is a goal of low weight both Giorgio and Small Wide can hit the target. On the other hand at the time car like Jeep Renegade had target for extremely high torsional rigidity for its class. Of course that it will have somewhat higher weight.

A;
B-C -D segment is dead in North America.
B;FCA and thanks Mary's cost cutting GM are the two most profitable North American business
C; RAM is the most reliable and loyal Pickup truck in North America.
D; As much as some may disagree with the direction, North America falls under Carlos's ''If it's not broken, don't try to fix it.''.

From what I seen, only the U.K. , Japan, Canada allows for Hybrids for another 5 years(2040), while others make the C02 standards soo where high Full electric is the only way to reach it.
California only gives Heavy Duty a ''loophole''.

@AlexB

Can you please explain me you reasoning behind Tavares's move to Italy?

Thank You!

Hmh...

So... Does he have a guaranteed Executive Chairman seat all the time while Exor's share exceeds 10% of Stellantis?
