Chrysler Readies Overland-Ready Pacifica Concept

Chrysler Readies Overland-Ready Pacifica Concept

Pacifica Goes Off-Grid for Overland Expo

Chrysler is taking a bold new direction with its beloved Pacifica minivan—this time, venturing off the pavement and into the world of overlanding. During the Chrysler Carlisle Nationals, Chrysler CEO Chris Feuell let it slip that the company is building a brand-new concept vehicle based on the Pacifica, specifically tailored for the upcoming Overland Expo.

We can only wonder now what would have come from the RU CUV that was co-developed with the Pacifica. I remember seeing photos of the Prototype side be side with Pacifica.... GM has certainly don't well with theirs and it would have in essence been what the Highlander and Pilot are now. Hindsight is powerful vision. If Suz is fiddling imagine that with a flatter nose.1753185263573.png

Chrysler Pacifica Grizzly Peak Concept Breaks Cover

The Ultimate Adventure Minivan

1755874878815.png

When Chrysler said they were going all-in on van life, they weren’t kidding. Just last month at the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, Chrysler CEO Christine Feuell revealed that the brand was working on an overlanding Pacifica. Now we’ve got our first real look, and it’s called the Chrysler Pacifica Grizzly Peak Concept.

I don't understand why it is so hard for Stellantis to stop doing things like this. An off-road minivan? Soccer mom's aren't driving on soccer fields guys. Chrysler execs needs to get their heads out of their butts and start making vehicles that make sense or just fold and let it go. This is just absolute nonsense! It's time to stop with the electric nonsense, let go of the minivan, let go of FWD based vehicles, no more pony cars, no more quasi-luxury vehicles, no more huge over priced SUVs that no one buys anymore anyway, no more wasting money!!!! Let's get back to building vehicles that Americans really want!

It's time for Stellantis to get a real grasp on reality. American luxury is dead outside of Cadillac and they're starting to loose blood as well. Buick died pretty much a decade ago or more as did Lincoln once the towncar was gone. Chrysler limped on with the 300 for awhile but it's nothing more than a boxy Charger with better leather in certain trims, that's all it is. No one really sells minivans anymore so if this is Chrysler's game plan, Stellantis can go ahead and save money and shut Chrysler down for good. Jeep needs to get rid of that money pit Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer S along with the Recon and get serious with their other vehicles. Drop the two-door wrangler, give the four-door more cargo space, give the gladiator a bigger bed, Have two powertrains, the 2.0L 4Xe and the 3.0L Hurricane S/O and then fix that poor excuse for a new Cherokee they just released. Put both the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee on the STLA Large platform, make the Cherokee a 4Xe only and the Grand Cherokee an L-only model with a base 4Xe powertrain and put the Inline-6 Hurricane engines as optional upgrades. That's it for Jeep. Ram 1500 Trucks need to be all Hemis from top to bottom 6.4L V8 and 7.0L V8. that's it! Ram 2500HD and bigger needs to be 7.0L N/A and Diesel. that's it! No 5.7L, no 6.2L Hellcats, just 6.4L and 7.0L and a big Cummins diesel which should be 7-Liters as well and that's it.
Dodge needs to be the absolute bread and butter of Stellantis, North America and it needs to do so on just ONE platform, the STLA:Large platform. The lineup needs two cars, the Charger and the Monaco sedan, followed by two SUVS, the Durango and the Ramcharger. The Ramcharger would be aimed somewhat at the Bronco and it would have both Hurricane engines as options, The Monaco sedan would be a well-appointed sedan powered by either of the Hurricane-6 powertrains along with a third Hurricane option, connected to a hybrid 8-speed transmission. This model would be known as the Monaco R/T. Lastly, the Durango and the Charger would be V8 Hemi only. The 5.7L would get dropped leaving only an updated N/A 6.4L, Supercharged 6.4L and a 7.0L Supercharged V8. Trim levels for the Charger would be a 520hp Charger Super Bee, a 780hp Charger R/T with the Supercharged 6.4L and lastly the 950hp Charger SRT Daytona with the supercharged 7.0L 426ci V8 under the hood and Hellephant badges on the side. The Durango would still hold the GT, RT and SRT names and everything would be AWD/4WD with no exceptions. The Charger would have Jailbreak options just like the Durango along with a full catalog of parts and accessories from SRT and Direct Connection.
This puts everything on the STLA Large and STLA Frame platforms, reduces the different amount of engines and transmissions, streamlines alot of things and reduced the number of plants needed for Stellantis to run properly. Have everything built right here in the US for our market and call it a day.

A good way to tell what Americans really want is to look at the sales charts and the fastest selling reports. Both the Honda and Toyota minivans are on the top 10 fastest selling list. Letting go of the minivan as minivans are making a comeback would be pretty dumb. BTW, notice that this Chrysler Overland van is only a concept. A minivan with a more aggressive stance and AWD would be a big hit with hockey moms for driving in the winter weather. It doesn't have to be that radical.

If you hadn't noticed Stellantis did let go of FWD based vehicles here and sales have suffered greatly. The minivan hangs on by a thread while the Japanese competitors overtake it. The sales charts are dominated by front drive based small and midsized utility vehicles, most of which either offer a hybrid option or have it standard. But you do get your wish, there is a stop production order on CDJ plugin vehicles for both PHEV and battery electric. The new Cherokee doesn't have a plug, but has the drivetrain Americans really want according to the sales charts. BTW it's built on the STLA large platform.

I find it amazing that the Dodge Hornet anchors the slowest selling list and the Toyota Corolla Cross just nailed the fastest selling spot. Two vehicles which are the same size and class, compact crossover, yet one is the fastest selling. Their average transaction price differs by $5,000 in the Toyota's favor. Dodge totally lacks a domestically built product smaller than the Durango and Lx platform vehicles, so they badge engineered something from Europe.

The Dodge and Chrysler brands need home grown C and D segment vehicles offered in the formulass derived from what people buy. What people say they want is often not what they end up buying.

Well, Prince, so Genoa and Lucca are now just family estates of the Buonapartes. But I warn you, if you don’t tell me that this means war,..................

Lighten Up. This a fun concept. The Minivan market isn't dead, STLA product is just OLD... And the idea that Soccer Moms, who become Basketball Moms and Hockey Moms and Ski Moms don't need a capable and roomy all weather vehicle is just false. And I can tell for sure the Market is massive compared to Whole paragraph you dedicated to a total market segment that is less than 500K. You wrote all that and called the Charger Monaco.... that is the most boomer thing ever. Monaco hold if anything a zero market value it sound old just off the tongue. Intrepid hold more value and that is next to nothing.

Maybe the CEO aren't idiots maybe they can just do MATH.

ABSOLUTELY they need a new Minivan way more that then need anything suggested here, just like they absolutely needed a Hybrid Powered Jeep in the D segment, just like the need hybrid and lower powertrain Charger.... In the end all these Niche and traffic models don't mean squat unless there is other models at the dealers to drive volume. Cheap Ram is needed also.

And a All Weather focus Pacifica YES.... YES... Updated YES, Better Hybrid powertrains YES. Pushed a bit towards CUV looks like it originally planned platform mate YES!!!!

And a reminder the Old slow and Dirty Hemi... is 18 months from being banned again.... Anyone betting the farm on next election going their way does have their head up their rear.
