Check engine light and auto start/stop not working.

Hey so I recently just got a 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Sport and I was just driving and had it in manual mode and th Appvalley e car started to shake and didn’t want to accelerate so I parked and waited for a bit. When I turned the car back on the check engine light popped up and the auto start/stop wasn’t working as well as DNA. The car runs fine now but the check engine light is still there. What should I do? Tweakbox

Things like that might come from a battery defect.
 
Buy a code reader... so you can clear the code. A few things Giulia has had battery issues. Hit the freaken AVENGER button as soon as you start the car to turn the horrible start stop button off, there is hard aftermarket defeats for it. Check the battery and the connection. The dealers are suppose to pull and clean the contacts before it goes out the door. But being a 2018 might have got fixed. Lot of these issue have been resolved by first cleaning the contacts and then replacing the battery if needed.

Other thing Watch the fuel use EU doesn't use Ethanol and the integration time to sort all the possible engine management issues given the volume of these cars is not sorted the way a Dodge would be. Basically the accounts for a lot of the issues. Fuel management and Battery issues seem to be the primary complaint along with the Sunroof rails jumping.

EU doesn't use Ethanol
I think you mean “doesn’t use as much“. E5 has been the standard gasoline fuel blend across Europe for well over a decade, with E10 replacing it in the last couple of years. My local filling station was offering E10 as its standard Unleaded fuel about 10 years ago. Out of interest (I drive a diesel car, so haven’t been keeping track), I just checked the MSDS for their fuel and it says between 5 and 10% ethanol, which would make it E5. Like the USA, the amount of ethanol in your fuel largely depends on where you live and where you fill up.

Using US “regular”-grade gas in a high-compression engine like the 2.0T is a bad idea, but only because the engine controller will dial back performance a lot in an effort to control knocking; it won’t cause damage. Even though the book says use premium, using mid-grade is fine: mid-grade is the equivalent of the European 95 RON, the standard gasoline product sold in Europe.

from monitoring the Alfa club page, the best way to light the dash like a Xmas tree is run regular gas, and high ethanol in the winter. I experience it also.. Why I carry a code reader.
 
Why would someone run Alfa on Regular fuel unless he or she want to break the car.

For modern turbo engines even Europe 95 RON fuel is not enough. It's better to use 100 RON fuel. Good luck for finding it in US.
 
I apologize for reviving this old thread. We had the same issue in my car. I needed to fully scan my car to troubleshoot the problem. It turned out that I just needed to reset the code I had. I extensively searched for a solution and found an article: "Engine Auto Start/Stop Function Not Working on YOUCANIC." Read about it yourself. I hope this information may help others who are experiencing the same issue.
