I've said it before and I'll say it again. the Mopar brands need 2 platforms (STLA Large & Frame), 4-engines (2.0L Hurricane-4 EVO, 3.0L Hurricane S/O, 3.0L Hurricane H/O and Cummins 6.7L), 2-transmissions (ZF Gen-4 hybrid plug in, ZF Powerline diesel transmission) & 4-5 vehicles per mopar lineup. Make everything a hybrid with the ZF Gen-4 transmission backing it and call it a day. If the Hurricane-4 EVO makes just over 300hp and over 300lb-ft of torque, add the hybrid transmission behind it and you have the next gen 4Xe with more hp and torque. This isn't rocket science it's common sense. Stellantis wants to have everything electrified by 2035 or whatever, okay fine. we don't like full BEVs for all of our own reasons but most of us are cool with the idea of hybrids. The ZF gen-4 transmission is a hybrid unit with everything on the inside of it for the most part. Hurricane engines + hybrid transmission = reduced emissions, full electric modes for emissions free driving, improved range/mpg-E, improved performance, happy customers which to Stellantis, should mean PROFIT! It also means simplified lineups and actually helps their plants regulate work better with clearer projected goals because everything isn't all over the place. It also means that your lineups make sense and vehicles will be marketable. Just thinking it through even just simply on the Dodge end, an entry level trim Charger GT with say even 385hp and maybe 420lb-ft of torque from the hybrid setup with AWD and a few options along with a Journey sized revision of the Hornet on the STLA LArge Platform and the Durango really just makes sense. With Jeep, having this single setup across the board, just with more torque possibly reaching 485lb-ft makes sense, but then again, Jeep's lineup should include four vehicles being the Cherokee & Grand Cherokee on the STLA Large platform and the Wrangler & Gladiator on the frame platform. Obviously something this small wouldn't work on vehicles such as the Ram vehicles (except for maybe a smaller STLA;Frame Dakota) So for the 1500, the 3.0L S/O hybrid and 3.0L H/O hybrid would be what the trucks would use and the 2500+ would be diesel only. K.I.S.S Keep It Simple Stellantis!
