BREAKING: Chrysler C6X (CA) Electric SUV Development Suspended

IMG_6543-scaled.jpeg

Chrysler Airflow Concept Three years ago at CES 2022, Chrysler showed off a concept of a production-ready-looking mid-sized electric SUV called the Airflow. This vehicle was to be based on the variant of the upcoming STLA large platform underpinning the new Dodge Charger Daytona. A few months later in April, Chrysler showed off another version of the concept called the Airflow Graphite Concept. While not a super futuristic, outlandish design, the Airflow was a very handsome concept and looked to be production ready both interior, and exterior wise as soon as Stellantis had their STLA Large platform ready to go. … (read full article...)

It's good to see that there are signs of life after the Tavares era. I know this is going to sound extremely european, but Dodge needs to bring out a sub 5-liter DOHC hybrid V8 twin turbo powertrain for everything on the STLA Large platform.

Here is the Chrysler Citadel concept from 1999.

Here is what Honda recently presented at the CES.

The Honda prototypes are pure battery electric. The Citadel concept is a hybrid. The front e-motor is alongside the IC engine which drives the rear wheels. The front drive is what we today call an e-axle. The Citadel is based off the LH sedans and like them is low slung. Until there is a major demographic change in the average age (and weight :p) of auto buyers, a low slung design would be a very hard sell. The engine placement is longitudinal like the LH series. It is too bad Stellantis killed the Miller Cycle GME 2.0 four cylinder. A taller vehicle based off the Citadel styling, but on the Charger EV platform would be interesting. Use the Citadel concept's front drive e-axle and the Charger's rear EDM with a longitudinal range extender and generator. Remember how the LH sedans mounted the transmission along side the engine. This would be similar except there would be a generator instead of a transmission for a REEV hybrid system.

Before the Citadel concept that led to the first Chrysler Pacifica, Chrysler did this design study and, unfortunately, never made it into production. I love the 300M front. This was the CS design study.

Amazing. Quarter century ahead of its time. I am never ceased at amazement with the minds of that era of Chrysler. What might have been. Thanks again Eaton.

Already exists in the family and doesn't out perform the Hurricane. But for marketing reasons I suppose but for SRT and not the thread.

So here is my idea for a two door Chrysler built on the STLA Large platform. This won't be a Tesla wannabe. I'm talking about styling, we don't want to bring back transverse torsion bars. The styling doesn't have to be an exact copy, however it should reflect the Chrysler Brand's heritage.

Nobody will confuse this with the Charger in the showroom.

The bustle back was a styling fad in the early 1980s, the back end needs to be smoothed out and the hard edges need rounding off.

Here is an idea for an alternative front end style from a later model. Once again I'm talking about styling not engineering.1737388375490.png
Just the front clip on this, leave the straight edges to Jeep.
