One of the key elements in the future plans in the Alfa Romeo lineup is the 2022 Alfa Romeo Tonale. Unveiled in the conceptual form at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show, the Tonale has continued to rack up design awards despite not even going into production yet. The Tonale will add electrification for the first time to the Alfa Romeo lineup, which plans to be fully electrified by 2030. But many have questioned when will the new C-SUV launch for the Italian marque.

Carscoops says it is more focused in the US.
I think the 48V versions will do great in Europe. The PHEV has quite a good range so it seems well tailored to either the US or Europe. IMO all the options are well thought out and the increased warranty period and using NFTs to validate the maintenance history of the vehicle is a great use of the technology to prevent forgery of it. Finally someone is using NFTs as they should be used (authentication and authenticity technology) instead of selling glorified jpgs.
I like the interior as well.

The 2.0 253hp option for NA is mentionned in the présentation.

In NA it will be available in PHEV eQ4 4wd 272hp and 2.0 Q4 4wd 253hp.

I estimate 0-60 in 5.6s for 2.0 and 5.9s for PHEV.

With some additional bits of info. They think the interior has higher quality than Giulia/Stelvio.

Imparato: ‘We are working on the potential Quadrifoglio version of Tonale. For the moment the highest level of power I have is 275 horsepower. We can easily be at 300 obviously, that's not the problem, but that's not the intention for Quadrifoglio. So if I cannot have [sufficient] horsepower, I will probably not go. But we are working on it at the moment.’

The dashboard looks good. But.
Only black plastic will make it looks cheap. The upper trims better have some aluminum or carbon fiber pieces.

There's an interior version with silver parts. I like it better as well. Also the silver version of the Scudetto and skirts.

An « easy » Quadrifoglio version is possible with a 2.0 PHEV with possible combined power from 365hp to 490hp. But they need to beat the 420hp of the GLA AMG to be a true Quadrifoglio.

You know what Dirty Harry said about opinions.

Q is indeed under consideration but I think that many are wrong about Alfa Romeo, what it represents. It's not a whale, it should be nimble.

PHEV, at least big battery PHEV, is a big no for Alfa Romeo brand.

We have added a lot of different hybrids to our fleet and also have some sort of deal with Polestar providing full BEVs. I would like to see one of the Tonale hybrids here. I notice from the article that we are only getting the the AWD setup as far as hybrid options.

Ok but in the big market for Tonale, a 2.0 ICE 4x4 is unsaleable… and in Stellantis they don’t have an ICE only motor with enough power (to be a true Alfa Q) to fit in their FWD B-C.seg platforms… so the better choice is by far a 2.0 PHEV with a bit less capacity than the 15.5kWh on the Tonale.

For exemple, putting the exFCA 2.0 engine with 325hp (Maserati), fitted with the exPSA « PSE » PHEV system with 155 extra hp, with the « little » battery pack of 11.3kWh of the Jeep 4xe. The result would be a Tonale e4wd with 480hp (!!!), 30mi EV range and 0-60 in the mid 3s range… for me, like this, it would be a pure Alfa Quadrifoglio product. Even with 4000/4500lbs weight, which is also the weight of the multi praised Stelvio Quadrifoglio.

To me another option for the Q would be to make it a BEV. Just take out the ICE engine. EVs have much more powerful acceleration anyway and without the engine and transmission they can save a lot of weight.

No BEV on SUSW platform… and no powerfull BEV (only FWD with « little power) on the exPSA sisters too…

Imparato mentioned it was a possibility. I can dream. :P

I think, he mentionned « Electrified » not BEV. In a French interview he said that there is no BEV Tonale under consideration.

Correct. The next-generation Stelvio due out in 2024 will be completely BEV.

They are still weighing on it. STLA platforms are multienergy.

Technically it would be just wrong to make BEV only model on a platform which is not a dedicated BEV platform.

I think we will see very few ICE (hybrids MHEV or PHEV) models on futur STLA platforms. And only for Americas Stellantis Brasil and FCA US Brands and models.
