One of the key elements in the future plans in the Alfa Romeo lineup is the 2022 Alfa Romeo Tonale. Unveiled in the conceptual form at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show, the Tonale has continued to rack up design awards despite not even going into production yet. The Tonale will add electrification for the first time to the Alfa Romeo lineup, which plans to be fully electrified by 2030. But many have questioned when will the new C-SUV launch for the Italian marque.

At last! Will they start with a launch edition? Will they present more of Alfa's future ahead of the Stellantis data stack March 1st? La Metamorfosi as Alfa Day 2022?

Good technologies, only 2 good motors the PHEV for Europeann market, and the 2.0 Q4 for US, but with lake of « Alfa » power.

The rest is very disapointing. Stiling is « old » and proportions are quite awfull.
For me Compass is better, and not because of its « top » styling. Interiors seem good for a FIAT (with a « cool » but not premium colored panel), but not for a premium Alfa Romeo.

I dig it! I really like the rear, the side styling does look “long in the tooth”.
Some parts do look like “LeCost killing ”.

Also, Jeep Compass seems to have better interiors (like screen integration) from what we can see. Another Desappointing point… but those details have to be confirmed live.

A VERY good point is the eQ4 PHEV system with Torque Vectoring and a RWD 100kW/134hp motor, with a 15.5kWh battery pack. Way better than the previous Compass PHEV 4xe system.

With an outstanding 50mi/80km range in City cycle.

I think the studio pictures don't do it justice, the tonale looks much better under natural lighting or in the background of the presenters. And I think the 1.5 engines might be very good options, just not top power, but good for the European market.

3 minutes to the official event:

I think in Europe, outside Italy and South Europe, the only interesting version is the PHEV.

Why? I guess most Giuliettas were sold with 120 hp. The Tonale starts with 130 + 20 electric. And if there is demand they can always sell a lower powered PHEV, higher powered 1.5 (190 + 20 electric?) or offer the 2.0 in Europe.

Want to see more of the interior now. Seats look fab!

Giulietta is prehistory…

The 2.0 without PHEV is unsaleable in Europe, but it’s the good engine for US, but a most powerfull version is needed…

I’m glad they will offer a 2.0 non-hybrid.
Weirdly enough the press release didn’t mention anything about this engine.
Let’s hope it’ll come to the US.
