Alfa Romeo Junior Earns COTY Semi-Finalist Nod in South Africa

Electric Performance Meets Italian Style

Alfa Romeo’s all-new Junior has taken an important early step in its electric journey, earning semi-finalist status in the 2026 South African Car of the Year (COTY) competition, sponsored by Old Mutual Insure. For a brand that has built its reputation on emotion, handling, and driver involvement, this recognition signals that Alfa Romeo’s first fully electric model is resonating beyond design alone.

As a Alfa owner.... I threw up a little in my mouth. And Yes I have seen in Person... and No it is not better. Fixing it would be relatively easy if they choose. It just needs a restyled nose.

I am one who thinks Alfa Romeo has a good future in the states. I offer two advisory thoughts on succeeding.
*More dealerships aligned with Maserati.
*Avoid overlap with Dodge and Chrysler, mainly by not spinning off their product and keeping prices comfortably above these two domestic brands.
By combining dealerships these two Italian brands, especially in areas with large Italian populations, they should experience the success they have had here on Long Island NY. Build out from there.
It is unrealistic to expect BMW sales, likely forever, but that brand and others could serve as visible luxury competitors in media conversations that communicate who they are and in what market they compete to establish clarity in the marketplace.
In rural locals it’s rare to see an Alfa Romeo, that is sad, but true. Exposure guys.
