"We will have the new [Stellantis] CEO [on the] 23rd of June. There will be an announcement to define the alignment with him," Filici said.

"Then after this time, we will go ahead with the presentation of the strategic plan of Alfa Romeo and Maserati, together finding synergies where is possible."

The plan – which is not expected to be a merger, but rather will likely see the brands share more platforms and features – will include more than just new models to boost sales.

"Of course, we are touching ... [vehicle] development. It's one of the pillars that's in this plan that we are going to close.

Should.... why weren't they? brand continuity ... Lower in the market, Sporty fun, bit brash, Luscious .... to Top of the market Grand Touring Vehicles highly refined and elegant.

Do what GM does with the Traverse/Acadia/Enclave - same sheet metal, different materials and interior/infotainment, but different engine for Maserati.

Basically, this isn't something new. They will just get back to what was started (under late Sergio) and how it should be.
Then Manley came to throw Sergio's Alfa plan in the garbage.

Don't tell the Allpar idiots that, because Sergio is to blame for everything, not Tavares 😂

French Based Leadership likely did the divide to sale BS, and now that is off.

Stellantis made a so called premium poole witth Alfa, DS and Lancia.
Technically Alfa can't have less in common with these 2 brands.

From what I know STLA Large was considered by many European brands at the time and was discarded. Dunno the reason.
Costs, French supplier base... But STLA Medium would be dead on that case. Almost dead.

In my opinion, at least for the USA market, Maserati and Alfa Romeo need to be more exotic, rather than more mass market.

Obviously there's much more to it, but it starts there.

I'd only focus on Maserati for that, it just has more luxury brand appeal globally than Alfa Romeo. If a better 3 series couldn't get lift off for Alfa nothing will, and if you're going to make it a SUV/CUV brand then you've completely lost the plot. Under current trends Maserati makes way more sense.

What to do with Alfa? Send it back to Italy and leave it a boutique brand with close ties to Ferrari

You saying Maserati should be larger line (Mercedes) up instead of having it above/at Porsche?

It does needs much bolder & aggressive design.

Mercedes level in the playing field with Mercedes incentives and dealer experience but not their bloated line up of offering everything under the sun with 4 wheels. An SLK type small coupe/roadster, larger coupe/roadster they already have, a C/E class tweener, the CUV/SUVs they already have and add a couple exotics at the top for marketing, one of them possibly a super SUV.

Done properly it would sell better than the current alfa/maserati half ass and clueless approach

They are stuck in the same rut with alfa/maserati as they are with dodge/chrysler

Its not as bad as Chrysler/Dodge because they sort of have the same mission at least.... Racer guy vs Racer Gentleman
